Discrimination of gender & race still alive and well.

Well I have not been here for awhile so thought I would update my recent views on discrimination in the work place.

My true belief is people should just be decent to one another concerning the Rights we are supposed to be afforded as American citizens. The fact is though we are not treated as equals no matter how much anyone says we are.

My most recent experience let me know once more regardless how good I can do my job I am still a female therefore inferior to male counterparts in the eyes of the ignorant. The worst of it though is there are females that encourage discrimitory practices in male dominated fields. I had one just in the last few weeks tell me, "Well that is primarily a male job". This gal was suppose to be a civil rights leader. It some what stunned me for a second. I mean what difference does it make about male or female on operating a piece of heavy equipment machinery? My feet hit the pedals and my hands reach the controls. The only difference there could be is that maybe I have to take shorter steps climbing on to the machine because I am a bit shorter than the majority of my male counterparts.

You'd think after thirty years things would have changed for the better. Yet it is the same ole same ole out there in the Operators world. Thirty years ago I was told by a perspective employer, "I've got men who feed their families". Regardless I needed to feed my family also. A woman with two small children was as nought in his eyes.

We cannot force people to treat each other with equality. So we must have a few safegaurds in effect to insure at least a portion of equality.

I think there is not only discrimination in the workplace, as I went through in my life until 1978, but I think there's also discrimination within the church, as I am experiencing right now.

Yeah its alive and well. All one person can do is to keep fighting the good fight. Jesus told those in charge of the church way back when they were hypocrites. Heck the same Word is as good today as it was then.

It is not is what is on the outside that counts. It is what is on the inside that matters. The churches above all should reconize this. Today I see so many that go to the churches do so only to gain an edge of some sorts. Guess that is why the master said, the Kingdom of Heaven is within you. If you cannot look at yourself honestly you surely cannot look at others with a open mind to what their hearts are made of be it stone or flesh. It would be nice to crush the spirit of discrimination for all could live decently with one another.

The thing about Affirmative action is we all need to be able to support ourselves. Everyone has a right to be treated with equal means to survive in this ole world.

Look, it's like this. Male whites have priority in the workplace and earn the best salaries. Females can only earn the same salaries, or even rise above, if they are just willing to give some pussy. This only applies to attractive females mind you. If you are an ugly female and not white - you are fucked.

It's only fair.

Amen to that. Truer words have never been spoken.

If I should say something about my situation to the clergy about my problem, I am afraid that it would lead to something worse. So I just say nothing for now.

I was discriminated in another church once, and I transferred out of there. Now it is happening again. I just hate to make my feelings known as I think it can lead to reprisals.

Another thing is that black colleges need to stop graduating people who still can not read or write. This is still a problem whether you want to believe it or not.

And herein lies the fact that there are female-owned companies. I have not heard any reports of them discriminating against men. But that does not mean it is happening.

I had my own company. It was destroyed with the help of men who could not stand to see a woman owning her own mining operation. I never applied for EEO so I was a target from the get go. One would think at the very least I should be able to get a trade job so I can make a decent living.

If given a second chance to run that company again I would apply for every advantage out there for women. I did not the first time because I truly believe there were people out there with integrity. Seeing my current situation I was obviously incorrect.

Nahhhhh, Fuck afirmative action. It is a concept based on the belief that we are all equal. We are not. Getting ahead involves connections, and, of course, money. Nobody cares about the poor slob trying to make it with his own convenience store. We sure as hell don't care about specialty store such as "scrapbooks are us."

You must have connections and money to succeed in America. If you are not white, you need even more money and connections. Is that changing? Yes, but we are not there yet. Is it fair? Who gives a shit.

Just remember that NOBODY gives a shit about you. Social security and insurance companies hate you and consider you another burden on their bottom line. Fairness is a concept left to children's fairy tales.

Sure they do. Even those who do not know it yet care.

I did not know Social Security hated me though. Please expound?

Insurance companies definately hate me. They are related closely to bankers.

The world as it is, is a fairy tale.

My first suggestion is for you to buy a very large crying towel!

Every person on the planet faces some form of discrimination.....gender, skin color, religious, location, etc....

The real question is "How will YOU react to this discrimination?"

You can't control the actions of others, you can only control YOUR actions!

Do not need a crying towel wow. Thanks for the suggestion. It is like my husband says about certain choices certain people make, "Reap the whirlwind".

I'll be fine but the fact is this nation stills needs affirmative action to help protect and encourage those who cannot protect themselves in such matters.

The part I would like to see end in the affirmative actions programs is the abuse amd fraud from large companies that abuse the programs.

The benefits should directly and effectively help the ones the program is intended to help. Not the big boys who have their grubby mitts in everyones pocket books already.

Affirmative Action is discrimination based on skin color and genitals.

I know female employers that only hire women.

I know women that make more money than men in the same occupation.

I know women that openly express their desire to only do business with women.

I'm a white man and I face discrimination from white men!

I prefer to employ women over men.

I can go on and on!

I remember feeling as you do when I was in my early 20s. I finally got my chance and then had to work my ass off to be like these big boys and girls!

Until everyone is on the same page Wow it still needs to be in place. People can file claims on reverse discrimination. When everyone is on a level playing field then affirmative action can be dismissed. Very few disadvantaged people based on race and or gender get a chance to work to their full potential. Sure there are those with handicapps, women and minorities who own businesses but how many of those actually started the business all on their own in the fields dominated by caucassion male? I know that there are not very darn many that have.

People should be encouraged not dismissed to merely rely on a job at the local Sears for five bucks an hour and plus a measely commission that barely brings their wages to minimum standards. This free society we are supposed to be living in deserves better than that.

Affirmative action allows dreams to be realized by those who may not get that chance otherwise.
