I would suggest that anyone that is Catholic and tithes is supporting the rape of children. This is a proven issue and still has not been properly handled by the Vatican and yet there are still Catholics giving every week and supporting priests who rape children.

When are Catholics that don't support these actions going to stand up en masse and declare that this is not acceptable and make a choice about why they still remain tied to an organization that would protect child predators?

I am not baiting with this thread or trying to insult Catholics. However, I really would like an honest discussion about how one can rectify their support of an organization that protects and allows child rapists to continue their crimes, with their faith. Can you be a Catholic that doesn't give money to the church and remove any stain from it that way? Shouldn't there be a point when the members of the Church stand up and demand that changes be made?

How the church has handled the pedophilia issue is certainly why so many have left the church in recent years. It's probably also a factor in why so few people enter the priesthood today.

Regarding tithing, I feel the same way about Mormons......how can anyone in good conscience tithe to such a church knowing that your money is being used to suppress other people's rights?

As a Catholic, you are trolling. You believe all priests are child molesters? Has the Vatican covered it's ass at the detriment to child safety laws? Yes, However, there are multiple cases that are being brought before a court concerning this issue. Cover-ups, the molestors, and the like. Does more attention need to be paid to practioners? Yes. Do we need to engage in a witch hunt to try to dismantle the church? If that what makes you happy, go for it. Good luck.

I am not a Mormon, but please explain the suppression of people's rights under the Mormon church using references.

And to insinuate that Catholics are telling the world they are for child molestation because they give to their church is so freakin ignorant I have no idea what to say.

It's a damn good thing your a freakin moderator, because that shit is totally uncalled for. Your arrogance and idiocy disgusts me. Who do you think you are saying that because I give to my church I am pro child-abuse? What is wrong with you?

You are ignoring my posts wording and also that yes, by giving to the church, you are providing for an organization that has protected priests that raped children and moved them to other locations to hide them all while allowing the abuse to continue. My being a moderator here has nothing to do with anything. I never claimed all priests were pedophiles. And nothing is uncalled for in bringing this up, when an organization has had to pay out millions of dollars to victims of their criminal employees or priests, what have you. I am neither arrogant nor idiotic to wonder why a person would tolerate that from their religious leadership. Maybe you are for refusing to see what has taken place in your chosen church.

The church hierarchy hasn't apparently learned any lessons from this fiasco, since they recently told the bishops in Italy that they were under no obligation to report pedophilia to the police.

It's not just a cover up, it is a conspiracy that goes all the way to the top. I can't speak for WT, but I think the rogue city state of The Vatican needs to be gutted permanently. The Church is not well served by it's benighted hierarchy..,.truth be told, it never has been.

I don't think it will be gutted. But there may be a lot of changes and new policies, safeguards, etc. Just saying.
