I agree. Understanding that link will hopefully help you understand why I am unable to believe in a religion.

This is an attempt by someone who does not believe in western religion to explain why he does not believe in it. You can use this to help yourself understand someone else's point of view, if you like. What is it that you find "crappy" about this article? It's portrayal of religious poeple as blind followers? I can understand that, however that is likely how the nonbeliever views religious people. |

Did anyone else see this on the site: Liberal cartoonist and writer Ted Rall is seeking donations to help finance a defamation suit against Ann Coulter. Help him out, 'kay? Yeah, lost interest after that. Which was, right at the start. If you don't like Western religion fine, I do. So I don't need to read this crap. And yes, I do consider it crap. |

I'm calling crap, crap. What do I find "crappy" about it? 1. It's stupid and elementary. I could get just about any 3rd-grader to write up exactly the same kind of tripe about the Theory of Evolution. 2. It totally ignores the over-arching history of mankind's quest for the transcendant - a quest that is undeniable, even to a person like Tadpole who is totally confused and searching. 3. It completely ignores what happens when people live "each to his own end" without any trascendent thought, religion or quest. Think about that one for awhile, and get to me about the atheistic tyrants of history like Stalin, Hitler, etc. Shall I go on?

Yeah, I saw that right away. Kind of makes it obvious what kind of site it is. It's too bad that many people are so gullible and naive as to blindly believe something they've pretty much already decided to believe - no matter how stupid it might be.

Now I am going to get told a lesson that just because it is a left-winged smear site, it doesn't mean that it isn't true. Or some illogical shit like that. I know you're going to say it, and I don't care.

It may not read at a college level, but it conveys the reasons that a non-religious person has difficulty accepting religion well enough. Quote:
I don't think this article meant to make comment on the history of religion, only the difficulty a non-religious person has accepting religion. Quote:
I believe Stalin was an atheist. Hitler, however, was a Christian who denounced atheism: http://www.infidels.org/library/mode...nofhitler.html http://www.sullivan-county.com/nf0/hitler/hitler1.htm http://www.infidels.org/library/hist...wn/hitler.html http://www.nobeliefs.com/HitlerSources.htm http://www.nobeliefs.com/hitler.htm http://samvak.tripod.com/hitler.html http://atheism.about.com/library/quo..._q_AHitler.htm I might add that pretty much all tyrannical kings believed their power came from religion. Though the same might be said of benevolent kings. Leaders of all religions may become tyrants, and this article makes no claim otherwise. This article serves the purpose of explaining the difficulty a non-religious person has believing in a western religion, and that is all.

Hitler was NOT a Christian. He gave "surface" lip service to it, in order to not infuriate the masses. But, if anything, he was into the Occult. The original article, of which we speak, remains purely stupid crap.
