God and the Devil are in each of us

God and the devil are in each of us. Not in some land in the clouds or some pit of fire in the earth's core, nor in some book written by mortal man or in a building that is blessed to be a holy place. God and the devil's true definition is choosing the right path on your own, and your decisions.

Free will allows you to either decide to do the right thing in life or do the wrong thing. Make this choice because you know and feel it is right, not because you are commanded to do so!

Too bad some people need the crutch of a promise of life everafter in heaven and the fear of burning eternally in hell, to make the right choices(which half the time are the wrong choices anyway). Stop being a pawn and be your own king as everyone else should also be. Everyone is your equal so love them all!!

Look in your heart and you mind and logically figure out what is right for the world using your own heart, not just to futher your own religion and life!!!!

Hear Hear! Beautifully Put!

I believe God is a crutch, or an imaginary friend for those afraid to be alone.

I do not count God my crutch or imaginary friend, though I am willing to admit need.

Some folk fear being alone while others fear a lack of independence. And thus there is a sliding scale of belief and disbelief.

Yes, God is within us. All the great religious traditions say that.

For example, Jesus said, "The Kingdom of Heaven lies within you."

Likewise, "Satan" is an allegory for ego, selfishness, fear... and all the other things within us that lead to evil.

However, God is also without us.

We didn't create ourselves, after all.

You make some valid points, but consider this: WE are all God.

I believe that any belief that gives one a smug sense of superiority over others is ill-gotten and can lead to no good end.
