...If lithopanspermia had occurred wouldn't it have to have been one giant asteroid?...

Why? Many asteroids and comets would be "infested" but not all of them had their fleas survive the plunge. Although I've never had the opportunity to pick up a meteorite just as it hit the ground...I heard they are actually icy cold.

If Earth-life came from an asteroid, where did the Asteroid-life come from?

It is timeless. Life and its DNA conjunct has always existed. It's just "here" now, that's all. Don't observe anything "out there" from within a human's prison of time....

(My bold)

Well, maybe once the primordial plasma chilled to where physical matter was possible. That's the standard model, anyway.

Well, since this is the Science forum and not Philosophy, I have to say it's obvious that DNA hasn't "always existed" because it is made of distinct components, so those components came together at some point.

It's also obvious that since the DNA of any species is noticeably different from that of every other species, they weren't all made at the same time.

Conclusion: They evolved. Here.
Thanks from imaginethat and hoosier88

If I said I had a brain the size of one, that would be a very British literary allusion which some people might not get, so I'll resist it.
