Who are the real hypocrites? I tend to think that if this behavior is so egregious, parents should have been teaching their children how to speak out and, at the very least, tell their parents and let them handle it.

Obviously, the parents of young girls who are just now speaking out forty years after the fact, were not brought up right.

Additionally, we are the people who make the decisions. The politicians respond to the voters. Why aren't parents more involved in the lives of their children? The parents are responsible for a society that teaches their children to keep silent after they have been sexually assaulted.

The fathers who taught their daughters this behavior of accepting victimization should, themselves, be taught a lesson for men. To sin by silence makes cowards out of men. So men taught their daughters how to remain silent and now want to harass politicians and use political blackmail for their lack of parenting skills? Is that about right?

So many women harassed, so many men, over so many years. Doesn’t anybody have a Dad anymore?
This shit is biblical. And please don't pretend it's not. I've had far too many people over the years quote me bible versus explaining WHY women should be subservient to men. One of the biggest denominations in the country, the Baptist, especially the Southern Baptist, make NO BONES about this.

I will argue that we are not a Christian nation, but we are part of western society which has been heavily influenced by Christianity. The church has spent the last 2000 years denigrating and subjugating women. We still live in a society greatly influenced by that mind set. It is going to be a very hard cycle to break.

During WW2 women took over the traditional roles of working men, often at much lower wages, while the men went off to fight. After experiencing the freedom of earning their own way, making their own decisions, it was going to be impossible to put that Genie back in the bottle.

Sadly society tried very hard to put the Genie back in the bottle. Within my life time there were still states where a husband could not be charged with the rape of his wife. Under the law, access to her body was his RIGHT as her husband. Denial of that right was grounds for divorce. Many states had very poor domestic violence laws. Again the mind set was that women were essentially property. Police were rarely willing to arrest a man for giving his wife a "good beating". Most thought she probably "deserved it" anyway.
What's that old joke ? "What do you call a woman with two black eyes ?? A poor listener"

Until the mid to late 70's there were still a couple of states where a women was required by law to hand over her paycheck to her husband. It was HIS property.

In the early colonial days, a man could have his "disobedient" wife arrested. She would be stripped naked, her "offence" would be painted on her back and she, along with any others similarly in trouble would be paraded through the town and neighboring villages.

We have NOT evolved out of these mindsets. Look at how we treat rape victims !!

It's not that these women don't have fathers. It's that the vast majority of those fathers live with a massive double standard. Don't you dare look at MY daughter that way !!!! WOW look at that babe over there !!! (even though that "babe" is the same age as his daughter.

The very men that would whip your ass for making a move on their daughter, think little of making the same move on someone else's daughter. HOW many couples do we all know where the man has divorced a woman that was close to his own age and is now partnered with a woman 10, 15, even 20 years his junior ??

They say actions speak far louder than words. If we want to know how SO many woman could have been SO badly mistreated, LOOK IN THE FUCKING MIRROR !!! We may SAY we want to protect our wives and daughters, but WHAT do they see you DOING when confronted with overly aggressive sexual advances against someone not your family ? What do they hear you say when someone in the group makes comments ?? Seriously !! When was the last time a friend or coworker made what was clearly an inappropriate comment and YOU SAID NOTHING and laughed right along with all the other men ???

The extreme feminist and their whole "rape culture" may have been wrong about the volume of women that have actually been raped. But they are not wrong about the underlying culture. They are not wrong about the vast number of women that have experienced some form of sexual aggression at work, in school, in other public places and from people who really should know better. I seriously doubt there's a single male on this board (and maybe even a couple of the females ) that has not at some point in their life made an inappropriate and or aggressive sexual move on another person.

I saw a good meme on Facebook one day. It said.

So, you're a straight male, great !! Have you ever, for any reason, found your self in a group of gay men ?? Did you LIKE the way they looked at you ?? How did you feel when one or more of them got very close to you ?? From their looks and comments did you perceive that might want to do things you really weren't interested in ? How would you feel if you found the exit blocked ?? How nervous would you be if your job depended on keeping a gay boss happy

THAT IS HOW MOST WOMEN FEEL EVERY DAY !!!!!

So again, it's not that the girls don't have dads, it's that the vast majority of those dads are hypocrites.

It's because my friend, America is a bunch of puritanical hypocrites. WE DON'T TALK ABOUT SEX. We'll advertise with it. We will create shows and make movies that have all kids of gratuitous sex in them. But we as a nation do not discuss sex in person and one on one. It's our dirty little secrete. The MORE religious you are raised, the LESS likely you are to discuss sex, much less report abuse. My current lover is a good case of WHY people don't talk about it. Her bother LIED to her father. He said she was sleeping around. At the time she was still a virgin. Her father's response ?? Was to ship her off, half way across the country, to live with an aunt, whose husband then proceeded to abuse her. Including taking her virginity. So in this scenario WHO was she supposed to report the abuse to ?? This was early 1980's LONG before we truly began to listen to, and take seriously, the abused.

First off, ALL Christians are liars, hypocrites... and sinners to the core - every last one of them. What's more, all of them know it. Here is what the Bible teaches:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God..." Romans 3 : 23

So, let's take that off the table. Now, I ask you again, whose fault is this stuff?

Liberals deny that we were ever founded as a Christian nation. So, why in the Hell don't the liberals who claim to have founded and run this country own the current condition of it? How did the status quo become the fault of Christians when the liberals marginalize any contribution Christians may have made?

If, indeed, America was not founded on Christian principles then you sure as Hell can't blame them for the values that are practiced in America. There is one thing that is consistent about the liberals in this discussion: they are consistent with inconsistency.

Now, as to your charges, I am currently a replacement for an Associate Pastor in a church. Ever since I was a kid (a few decades ago) the church has been discussing sex. I would submit that you haven't been in but one or two churches at best. Speaking for myself, if I were to counsel any young girl about dating, I would encourage that she refrain from premarital sex and if she became the victim of a sexual assault to notify the police, her parents, and anyone else that could help.

Becoming a victim is not something that an individual should be ashamed of and when you are a victim, you should report the crime not only so that the perpetrator gets put in jail, but that this doesn't happen again.

In short, you want this to be a liberal v. conservative issue. It is not, but if you will stipulate to our Christian heritage, I'll meet you half - way and take at least half the blame for society's current condition. I already know how you're going to respond.

Like it or not, liberals are just as much to blame because the children of liberals bully people in school, do immoral things we feign being offended by, and then grow up to commit assaults, rapes, murders, and everything else... just like the Christians do. The thing I do see is that all those things that accompany those immoral acts are things the liberals do and think it's acceptable. Christians do it too, but they know it's wrong and so they strive to distance themselves from their sin nature. In other words, they spend their lives trying to make amends and correct the problem.
