Well, that may have been part of Clara's point about 'you look after your own body and don't try to tell me what to do with mine' or words to that effect, because it's women who have babies/ not you, not me or any man! So, who should decide whether the contingent life of an embryo or fetus should be carried to term? Seems to me it should be the one who's actually in that situation and not someone who has never had to deal with the issue personally and obviously-will never have to!

Tolerant means willing to hear out someone with whom you disagree. And if you remain in disagreement, gone on your way amicably.

Intolerant means not allowing someone with whom you disagree to speak. And to assume evil intent of someone who does not agree with you.

For instance: if you believe in abortion and I don’t, you assume that I am a mysoginist who is trying to control women that’s intolerant.

Meanwhile if I support a womanís right to choose Iím a baby killer who puts convenience above human life.

Or if I support gay marriage Iím a pervert who is trying to assuage my feelings of guilt by making the perversion legal.

The most tolerant are Moderates. No party loyalties and way more likely to look at the whole case/picture instead of one particular view.

I don't know, Knight, I'm not loyal to any one party - only to ideologies. And I'm as passionate about those as rabid right and or left wingers are!

I'm a liberal - but not, necessarily, a Democrat.

I think that everyone is loyal to their own particular ideologies. I probably should have said that a bit differently.

As with other things ideologies are on a spectrum with one end being considered conservative and the other end being considered progressive or liberal. I believe that most Moderates (like myself) just don't give a damn what others do just as long as there is no interference in the rights of another and personal responsibility is common practice.

I'm sorry, but the current Republican President makes a lie of that statement. His base, who still call themselves conservative have completely abandoned that ideology based on party I have to assume.

That's why anyone who disagrees with him or criticises him from his own party is instantly labeled a RINO.

NO, that assumes a false dichotomy that the truth is always somewhere in the middle of an issue or debate. The longer view of history of 20th century America was a slow growth of a progressive movement which brought land reform, public parks, jobs programs during the 30's, improved public education, and progressive taxation on incomes as well as taxation on estates, corporations and investment income.

And since the 70's, the cabal of business leaders in bankiing and industry have worked together on the common purpose of buying political influence for their class and diminishing the classes of working people..especially members of organized unions. And no surprise, the trendline since the late 70's shows an increasingly rapid rise in incomes and wealth of the upper classes/while the lower 90% range from stagnation to declines in real income and wealth!

When it comes to social issues: the trend is almost identical with one party- the Republicans, making aggressive moves against social programs and laws and restrictions that limit corporate power and influence/ while the putative opposition...the Democrats, are the Washington Generals to the GOP's 'Harlem Globetrotters' game....arguing against, but ending up compromising on every contentious social issue from abortion rights to immigration. (if the Dems are only willing to draw a line of defense on DACA..an issue that affects a minority of immigrants, they aren't really willing to fight, and Trump and the Republicans know this and smell blood in the water each time).

So, America keeps moving further and further to the right over time on every issue, and today's 'liberal' justices on the Supreme Court like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, are further to the right than the Republican appointees of the 70's like John Paul Stevens.
