The thing is that is a significantly less expensive infrastructure so you shouldn't have to pay more for that. We have a little spot in the country and it is a fraction of what we pay in the city but there isn't even cell service there. So.

I live far out in the sticks but have satellite TV and Internet that costs a heavy monthly fee. I don't have a telephone because I don't want one but can get it with my satellite service. Build a modest brick house, McMansion or Mansion on ground in my area, you have to put it on at least 2.5 acres. Property taxes here are assessed at $3500 per one hundred thousand value for a property that has a house on it, every six months. Farm land without a house or barn on it are assessed much less but the grain that grown on it pays the property tax on farm land, diesel fuel and seed. I broke even last two years due to low grain prices but that is the price I pay to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

How about one government?
Why have federal, state, county, municipal, water district, etc?
Why not just government, that provides the things government provides, schools, police, fire, roads, infrastructure, social insurance, defense, etc.
All paid for by property tax, and import tariffs, so if someone manufactures something outside the country, taxes are still collected.

That's what people like Bernie Sanders are talking about.
Yeah, maybe that phrases it better. I was thinking in terms of a sort of "salary cap" in order to reduce the breadth of income disparity. But a revised tax system would possibly accomplish that, if the oligarchs didn't devise a way to recoup their losses from the lower class, like jacking up the price of gasoline and utilities and such.

I think you're confused. The federal government is the most wasteful entity in our nation why would I want to expand it. I want to abolish it. Small, locally controlled communities w/ local economies operating autonomously.
Thanks from coke and Pilgrim

Because we have a troublesome little thing in the way....The US Constitution.....It's a "Federalist System" ....Where the Federal Government regulates and protects the States....The States regulate the Counties.....The Counties look out for the citizens...
Thanks from coke

That is a great idea, for the 1700's.
But time marches on, and the constitution is a bit dated, it's "protections" have been gamed and are no match for the big money arrayed against it.
It's getting to be time for a rewrite.
Keep the good parts, and toss out the ridiculous, and reorganize with an eye to efficiency, and to what's really important, which is ordinary people's lives.
Thanks from coke
