Venezuela's main export is oil. Because they are so rich in oil, other businesses like agriculture and manufactory took a backseat. As Venezuela began flooding the market with oil the cost per barrel dropped. In the meantime, Venezuela expanded their very costly entitlement programs. Which ultimately brought waist, and corruption resulting in heavy debt oil alone could not pay for.

Sweden is doing just fine. So is Norway. The people are the happiest on earth, and the right is afraid to admit why.

Why would we be afraid to admit that? If whatever they're doing works for them, good for them.

FFS.... When are we going to get it out of our heads that no country is the mirror image of any other!? What works in some most definitely will not work in others as they are currently set up and populated with too much great of a diversity.
Thanks from imaginethat and Clara007

When are we going to learn that socalism, in fact, is a very successful economic model, and capitalism has failed, and only benefits 5% of the alleged greatest country.

You know, the country where getting sick is the leading cause of bankruptcy.
Thanks from imaginethat and Kode

Fixed nothing. Norway has a tiny population and massive energy reserves that they did not nationalize though they have Statoil which is a public company of which Norway owns 2/3rds of the stock.

Then there is this:

Quote:
"Emigration is now higher than during the great waves of migration [from Norway] to America at the end of the 19th century. Emigration figures are high. We are still country of immigration, but in the shadow of immigration, emigration has increased a lot," TÝnnessen said.

So if they are so darned happy why the emigration?

And their birthrates have dropped for seven years in a row.

https://www.thelocal.no/20170412/-bi...nsecutive-year

Happy? Or just lying to pollsters.

The US isn't and never has been only one thing. It is an amalgam of the globes history based on pragmatism. Now it has to be one way to survive? I think not. Unless we want an autocratic empire that gives just as surely as it will take away.

Oh, so the problem in Venezuela is NOT socialism in a of itself but rather inept and corrupt leadership.

I agree. We have a socialist economy for the rich, and a capitalist system for the working class.

Which ironically enough is leading to an autocratic empire.
