You don't get out much, I live in a state that has been exporting jobs for going on 400 years, and the unemployment rate is 3.5%.

The reason that companies locate is talent, nobody cares about taxes when they start, they aren't making any money, what they need is talent, and that is found in areas where costs are high, and taxes are high, because they have infrastructure.

The way to get rid of homelessness is to not give the chronically homeless anything. They flock to places that gives them lots of welfare to trade for booze and drugs. So you the taxpayer are paying for some street person to get drunk or stoned.

Many of the homeless are mentally ill while others are alcoholics or hooked on drugs. Reopen the mental hospitals and put them there. The drunks and drug addicts can also get free help for their problem, and those who don't can live in the gutter. Or be induced to move away.

One answer for municipalities is that when they get a crazy and/or drunk homeless person is to buy them a one way bus ticket to somewhere else, a remote place like North Dakota and entice them with a $100, a hamburger, a bottle of liquor and off they go. North Dakota won't have the funds to kick them out, and the people will have to get help and off the streets of freeze to death. One cold night in Minot and most will run to aid. Laying around the beach in LA with government cheese and a bottle of Boone's Farm is just a waste of money to people who earn.

I did say they start here because of the talent and capital venture. Headhunters are more effective when the talent they are trying to poach for startups do not have to relocate. Venture Capitalists are more likely to fund startups if they are local because it is easier and cheaper to keep an eye on them. They can interact more with the people in the startups to have a better feel for their abilities and company culture. They can better monitor their progress and how fast they are burning through the seed money.

The whole point of this thread was about taxes. I clearly said that once these Silicon Valley startups get a foothold in whatever service/product that they provide, they leave because of the taxes. Did you think that agreeing with what I said is a strong rebuttal?

No one wants to pay taxes, the company nor the employees. We have high corporate taxes, we have high income taxes, we have high property taxes, we have high sales taxes, and we even have a bag surcharge. There is a gosh darn tax on my alarm system, and I'm still trying to get an answer from the county about what the hell is this Business Improvement Tax bill/invoice that I receive each year.

You know what? There are hundreds of articles about companies fleeing Silicon Valley, but you being the goober that you are is going to tell us you know better than those that actually impacted by what happens in Silicon Valley? I am in the Silicon Valley, and I have had many friends and clients leave. Back in the early 2000's a lot went to North Carolina. Now it is Arizona and Texas.

When there is even an article about U-Haul prices being driven up by the exodus, and you still want to act like you know what you are talking about regarding Silicon Valley, that is just sad.

Bumfuck, Egypt is the term I remember which cuts a broad swath. I have been homeless twice in my long life. PTSD is a fake disease and being homeless is a choice. Everyone is exactly where they want to be.

they'll care when Amazon leaves. Bezos will not take this lying down. He's got the money he needs to relocate and train new people. Many will move with the company. Let the entire W coast just rot away and fall into the ocean. good riddance.
