Spring US Football is trying again.....

Ever heard that saying that the meaning of insanity, to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results?

Not one but two football leagues are coming. First is the Alliance of American Football which will (probably) premiere in 2019, while the Jim McMahon of WWE fame will rebirth the XFL in 2020. The Alliance League will play in the Spring, and probably so will the XFL.

Now back to the quote about insanity, since the NFL has been around, there have been many football leagues trying to compete or coincide which have always ended up in failure, starting way back in the 1940's with the AAFC (which did merge several of AAFC teams into the fold, including the Cleveland Browns.

There was the World League in 1974 which failed completely after only a year, with teams being bankrupt and unable to pay players, and uniforms being repossessed by the bank. There are some good videos of this on YouTube.

Then there was the USFL which also failed after two years, although a few teams were financially viable, many of the teams went under quickly. The USFL really tried to make a go of it, to draft and get NFL quality players, but it just didn't work in the end, and even their lawsuit with the NFL was a fail, even though they won the suit, for $3. (Interesting story)

Then there was World League of American Football with teams in Europe. Then just teams in Europe which was a fail except for mainly Germany. Then the Canadian Football League tried to add some American cities. Americans didn't like it. Something called the UFL a few years ago with four teams.....

The graveyard is full of failed football leagues, so it is interesting that anyone would try another league. Personally, what I think would sell if the NFL has a Spring League which is the minor league team which feeds into their system. Make it a league of younger men, who instead of going to college, turn pro and make a modest but comfortable salary. There would be a cap on how many seasons one could play in the minor system, maybe up to the age of 27, to allow younger players to come up. However, the NFL uses the NCAA to be their minor league so they do not have to set up another venture, and their Europe venture failed.

I think it's crazy to start a new football league. Love to see a Spring League succeed. I thought everyone gave up on it for twenty years.
