Iraq Wants USA To Stay.

BAGHDAD, Iraq, July 16 As sectarian violence soars, many Sunni Arab political and religious leaders once staunchly opposed to the American presence here are now saying they need American troops to protect them from the rampages of Shiite militias and Shiite-run government forces.

The pleas from the Sunni Arab leaders have been growing in intensity since an eruption of sectarian bloodletting in February, but they have reached a new pitch in recent days as Shiite militiamen have brazenly shot dead groups of Sunni civilians in broad daylight in Baghdad and other mixed areas of central Iraq............

Afghanistan wants us to stay too... they want the free hand-outs. It's a brilliant tactic they have. They attack us just enough to keep us over here, because they know that as long as we stay we will dump truck loads of money into fixing this shit hole they call a country, and we will give them lots of hand outs.

I'd bet anything that if the U.S. Military left Afghanistan this month, within 60 days the number of attacks in Afghanistan would drop by 90%.

That's just my opinion... I could be wrong.

To me, that's one of the issues we need to consider about these messes.

Why is it our problem? Why should we have to sort out the world's woes?

The decision to go into Afghanistan was a no-brainer.

The decision to go into Iraq? Partly a 20/20 hind-sight issue, partly a judgment call. Don't want to get bogged down into that.

But like any good party (or bad party), there comes a time when you have to make a decision on when to go home.

And considering the multi-billion dollar price tags involved, it's a decision which should not hide behind empty rhetoric.

On a darkly sarcastic level, totally ignoring the issues of loss of life, could Japan's decision to attack America be viewed as an "investment" considering how much they ended up gaining out of losing the war?

I agree. I think we should have never went into Iraq, and it is time to leave Afghanistan. Simply not enough ROI.
