Childish posturing.
Even Ricky Bobby eventually figured out "Either your first or your last" was fucking nonsense, and he was pretty much a dumbass.

Did you miss the part where I said "and we were NOT?"
The U.S. would never have tolerated the number of KIA, WIA, MIA and POW that would be necessary to inflict enough casualties on the Vietnamese to the point they would surrender.
And even if we HAD won in that fashion what would we have done with that victory, how would we have held onto what we had "won?"
They tolerated it in the strategic bombing campaigns of WW2.

Held on? Well that's obvious: establish permanent bases with set amount of troops to be left there (just like in other NATO allies during the Cold War, because of course eventually South Vietnam would have to join NATO) and then something similar to Vietnamization would go down. Then they're be a steady withdrawal of US troops from the area and the US would take North Vietnam to the negotiating table now that they had the diplomatic upper hand.

Oh wow they signed a treaty that said they lost. Get freaking deal. It's a piece of paper. The North conquered the South. No matter the reasons behind it that's what happened. That's reality.

Did you even read my post? I asked that everyone here not pull that shit that you just did.

Christ, I was hoping for an intelligent discussion here, but nope, all I get is denial, nukes, and dumbed down versions of complex arguments.

We live in a world where we can't expect the enemy to follow international law, however we must and so we shall. Still, this is not to say we should be so stupid as to think signing a piece of paper will mean anything to our enemies.

For God's sake, you cannot even begin to compare WWII with Vietnam, it's ridiculous from any and every viewpoint.,
