Christ, I was hoping for an intelligent discussion here, but nope, all I get is denial, nukes, and dumbed down versions of complex arguments.

LOL, actually all you do is ask question you think you already know the answer to and then complain when everyone doesn't bow down to your self proclaimed "intellectual superiority".

I admire your career path but I suggest you open your eyes wider. You have no ability to see anything except what you've been taught in School and that's not the way the world works.

shaveˇtail

/ˈSHāvˌtāl/

noun
USmilitary slangderogatory

noun: shavetail; plural noun: shavetails

a newly commissioned officer, especially a second lieutenant.

Again, no offense but you aren't even a shave tail yet. There is a reason that enlisted men roll their eyes at those newly minted officers who for the most part are simply bound up by all of that book knowledge.

We are not at war with Iran nor are they our enemy.

Also, Obama is seeking friendship with them. Isn't that a good thing, especially since they're the new major power in the Middle East?

When did I say anything implying I'm intellectually superior? I'm saying I hate how everyone ignored the requests I made in my post at the start of the thread and this has become another silly playground rabble instead of an actual discussion.

Out of all the evidence and arguments I made in the essay above, about 10% came from stuff I learned in school. The rest is from stuff I learned from my own personal studying, a lot of which comes from primary documents or even better, straight out of the mouths of historians, officers and enlisted men with far more experience and knowledge than me that I've met.
Thanks from pensacola_niceman

That is absolutely correct, but mostly in the realm of tactics.

In the realm of military history and strategy, especially the in the former, it's very much a book smart game.

And hey, if my essay is so dumb, go ahead and tear it apart. I said I wouldn't mind. Hell I said I want it! I want criticism, so that I can learn more and improve.

I eventually want to get a Masters in War Studies and maybe a PHD in Military History. This is what I live for, so help me out and give it a look.

In military strategy some things change based on the type of war you're fighting along with the historical and geographical setting of the conflict, but still a lot of fundamental principles remain the same.

You know you're arguing against the consensus of most military historians and analysts right?
