Lol I literally said in the post you're quoting that talking about the Cold War is okay. What is wrong with you?

I will never stoop to the level of our enemies. Our forces as a whole certainly won't. What's the point of fighting for our principles if we can't even uphold them? And I refuse to believe that the only way to win a war is to go against this thinking.
Our forces are fighting hamstrung and they detest it. The Rules of Engagement are complete bullshit. If you are my enemy and you are hiding your weapons in Mosques and Schools BOTH will be vaporized. The ONLY principle of War is Win. No other reason to fight it.

Sorry, Russia was never our friend, they got outspent and regrouped. You are seeing the real Russia now, aggressive and forceful. Saudi Arabia is a snake, they bit us on 9/11.

Fighting a war without trying, planning, intending to win is perhaps the greatest war crime of all.

They were our friend briefly, now I'm not sure what they are, but they are not the enemy. That at least I know. Until evidence comes out that demonstrates that Saudi Arabia planned and/or funded 9/11 that is a load of crap. Yes Saudis were involved but as far as we know the government wasn't.

Held on? Well that's obvious: establish permanent bases with set amount of troops to be left there (just like in other NATO allies during the Cold War, because of course eventually South Vietnam would have to join NATO) and then something similar to Vietnamization would go down. Then they're be a steady withdrawal of US troops from the area and the US would take North Vietnam to the negotiating table now that they had the diplomatic upper hand.
They would have had to join SEATO. South East Asia Treaty Organization. NATO is North Atlantic Treaty Organization. SEATO and the Republic of Vietnam are no longer in existence.
Thanks from locke23 and coke

That Lt. General has never seen combat? Those who make up high command of our countries have never seen combat? The majority of our military members have never seen combat?
