Seems that Ray Mabus, Secretary of the Navy, wants the ship. So against the will of the Pentagon? That does not compute. Agaisnt the will of Ash Carter, Secretary of Defense, is more apt.

From OP
Another ship, the USS Fort Worth, was sidelined in January—and remains in Singapore today—because its operators failed to follow proper maintenance procedures and adequate lubricants did not reach those same gears, which are vital to the operation of waterjets needed for high-speed operation.
A year later, auditors at the Government Accountability Office reported that the USS Freedom had spent 58 percent of its 10-month deployment idle in port in Singapore.
Sembawang Ship Yard must be reverting back to a Navy Base! I hope the Terror Club is well stocked with ice cold Tiger beer!

Has ships really changed since World War II? Huge steel boat with lots of big ass guns to shoot at enemy planes or other boats. There are lots of things that have changed because of technology, like a car from 1966 versus a 2016 car, but both vehicles are not that much different except for the gadgets.

There was a movie staring Kelsey Grammar about a guy (not Grammar)who was a Bird Colonel who wanted that General Star and started this boondoggle of a tank, which just got worse and worse over time because of the brass wanted to add stuff to it and basically from the get go, the tank was a complete piece of shit and how this was covered up and all the money and incompetence. Anyone know the film?
