If you include brain freeze from ice cream as suffering, and fighting, then yes, he was a great fighter. Not one sailer lost there life during the Vietnam war. It was a cushy job.

You didn't burn up any, because you was on a boat. The navy served no purpose during the Vietnam war. Only purpose you guys served was as life rafts for all the gooks ( as you put it) after Saigon fell.

The only naval personal that put there life in danger were the crew of PT boats. If they were on a ship, they had it easy.
