And there's a gorilla that won't go away. Some men, in olden times called the warrior class, are FAR more suited for combat for various physical realities. Putting women in combat because "I know you can do that task equally well" is an outgrowth of the "good job" mentality where everyone is a winner. But in reality, some combat situations demand bigger and badder bodies, because everybody isn't a winner.

If ever there was a "man's job," a combat job, with the attendant fighting, maiming, and killing - defines it. It's damned silly to equate women in combat with a step forward in actualizing gender equality.

I'm happy to agree to disagree too.
physical qualities are increasingly irrelevant, most combat involves operating equipment of some form. even front line combat doesnt mean swinging a broadsword these days, it involves pointing a gun, and being small doesnt make you any less effective, the NRA has been pointing this out for years.

case in point is the israeli army, well regarded as one of the worlds most effective militaries. they have had female soldiers at all levels of the force for years, without it impeding their military ability and without it causing any problems. likewise the kurdish forces. years ago australia had a peacekeeping operation in east timor. the general in charge had personal security guards, who were all female, because they beat the male applicants for the position.

it can be done, it has been done, it is being done, and when it is done, at the end of the day, it doesnt matter.

but, if my daughter ever applies to join the army i am locking her in the cellar until she changes her mind.
Thanks from Lyzza

The service got boring, when they got tired of it, they got knocked up and took a free ticket home. Men in a combat zone had to shoot themselves in the foot, women just took advantage of the navy's generous benefits for single moms.

In combat, every sailor on a ship must be a fire fighter. That means fully able to haul an unconscious sailor up narrow ladders and secure doors rushing water and handle high pressure hoses.

99 lbs female quota hire just don't make the cut.

Sorry for the confusing pronoun. That's just the title that came with the link.

What this suggests, in my view, is that the minimum standards needs to be raised, not that women generally are incapable of performing in combat. It seems much more likely that more women than men just make it over the minimum standards, while more men exceed the standards by a lot; which, would slow down mixed units. However, there are women with the mental strength, discipline, and physical prowess to carry out the position well. Consider these young women as an example:
