President Obama calls on Congress end taxpayer giveaways to an industry thatís never been more profitable, and instead use that money to double-down on investments in clean energy technologies that have never been more promising.

It will be interesting to see how Republicans justify continued handouts to oil companies making record profits right after passing Paul Ryan's budget to begin dismantling Medicare

Well it's like this, when the Democrats are willing to stop their handouts to failed green energy companies, maybe the GOP would do the same. The same way you can't ask the GOP to stop taking money from corporations while the Democrats take money both from corporations and Big Unions. If we are going to stop the madness, then they ALL MUST STOP THE MADNESS!

Agreed.

But that won't stop the Republicans from handing boatloads of money to their oil company paymasters

Oil companies have been subsidized by the government for a hundred years. And it has never been more profitable. There's no way that our tax dollars should be given to them at all.

And the Senate just voted the ending of the subsidies down.

I hope you folks watch Fox news after Obama gets on TV and throws out his hypocrisy to the masses. If it were not for Fox news I would not have known that Obama supported Big Oil company subsidies back in 2005 when he was a Senator. Now he plays the game with the hurting electorate and pretends to care about them and high gas prices. Most experts in the field know that taking away the subsidies would most likely make gas prices go even higher.

I always love listening to Obama spew out his hate the rich class warfare and then I get the real story on Fox news. The Liberal media has truly become a partisan democrat support group. It is sickening our journalists who once were bi partisan and tried to find the truth in any statement made by a president are now in bed with the politicians. I understand that Fox news is also partisan for the GOP but Fox is the only news channel supporting the GOP. Every other news networks supports Obama.

So the bottom line is this, if you want to get the real story on any statement made by a president, watch the opposing views and then form a more enlightened decision.

It has been proven that Fox News is biased and reports lies. Nothing more than an arm of the right wing.

.

How would that happen?

Couldn't the oil companies make a little bit less profit instead of the record profits they have made in the past few quarters?

If they are making so much money why do they need handouts from us?

Could it have anything to do with the army of highly-paid oil industry lobbyists and the buckets of money they hand out in campaign funds to members of Congress?
