Officials say Flint's water is safe. Residents say it's not. Scientists say it's complicated. “The data we’ve collected is now not in disagreement with the state showing that Flint is in the range of federal standards. But that doesn’t mean its safe.”

Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha thinks the city should end the bottled-water service only when lead service lines can be replaced—which isn’t expected to happen until 2020.

Exactly. When Flint residents first questioned the quality & safety of the switched water source (to the Flint River), they were ignored, brushed off, & finally slandered & insulted by official MI agencies, the city, the county, the regional EPA. CDC had covered itself in Scheiss also, when it signally failed to intervene in the very similar lead & contaminants crisis in the WADC water system previously. To the extent that CDC issued a ruling that lead in water was not an issue, nor even a health concern.

There is no good reason to believe anything Gov. Snyder has to say on the subject of Flint's water. His hand-picked cronies (the appointed - not elected - Emergency Managers), a series of them in Flint, reported back to the governor, & their mission in Flint, Detroit, & anywhere else they happened to infest - was to save money, period. In pursuit of an impossible goal, they railroaded themselves into jail, fines, resignation, firing, & if convicted of involuntary manslaughter, possible lengthy jail terms & the title of Convicted felon. & besides all that, I wonder how they sleep @ night. Oh, & professional suicide, too. Marriages will break up, families will be estranged from each other.

Gov. Snyder sacrificed the embryos & children of Flint when he plowed ahead with the Flint River hare-brained scheme, to save a few bucks. & ignored spending $80/day to put in the corrosion control chemicals that would have made the water provided considerably safer, if not 100%. He quite deserves the mauling he gets to take now, & the dashing of any future political dreams he may have harbored. They died aborning, unintended victims of a deeply poisonous & corrosive & self-inflicted political atmosphere. A kind of morality play, really, with Synder playing the role of Joan of Arc. A kind of political auto-da-fé.
