So are you now saying you would only impose such a luxury tax on defined assault weapons and not all firearms?
Can we apply these taxes to all forms of communication as well?
What other rights shall we tax?
What was my last sentence? Take all the time you need.

I can tell you this for sure: Nothing will be done as long as we have a GOP president, GOP congress and GOP Supreme Court. The Party of NO is terrified, frantic, panicked at the thought of living without their military-type guns and as much ammunition as possible. Re-read that sentence because everyone needs to understand the type of FEAR we are talking about.
BUT....if the day EVER comes when Democrats have all three branches of government...we might see the following:
>Universal Background Checks, including private sales
>Limit sales of high capacity ammunition magazines
>Require a longer waiting period, licensing and training
>Disarm all domestic abusers, drug-related offenders, youth under the age of 21 (with military/employment exceptions)
>Red Flag buyers with mental disability/trauma issues
>Jack up the price of guns and ammo---add a huge luxury tax

This is where to start. In other words, make purchasing killing machines more difficult and more costly. That's it.
You clearly stated guns. You did not clarify it to be the soon to be defined assault weapon only. So, now is your opportunity. Are you only advocating for a tax on the soon to be defined assault weapon?

AND again: Please reread my last sentence. #89. I'll wait.....actually--no I won't wait. Time's up.

This is why you gun control hacks will never be trusted. I could trust you if you just said you want a tax on all firearms. I would trust you if you said you really wanted to ban all guns. Why I could never trust you on this issue is because you and your movement would rather lie and deceive about its real intent than to start from a good faith starting point. This is about what your view is. Not a negotiation. If you can not even state what your starting point is, then there can be no negotiating.

So what is your solution? Yours seems to be do nothing, shrug your shoulders and let it continue. Do I have that about right?

Tell us your solution. I lost my brother to lax gun laws, so feel free to tell me your solution. You're quite frankly an idiot who has never had to deal with things like this. Given how frequently this occurs now, you'll be touched by it soon enough, rest assured.
Sorry for your loss- I lost my brother to suicide- but I don't think making everyone else guilty would bring him back- or fix any problem at all.

this is the thread for discussing all gun violence and homicides in our Country,

and what we're going to do about it
Arm yourself is the best option- then ensure your family is armed- then ensure you don't get in the way of others who already know these things.
denying, or restricting choices won't end well- and that's what you're advocating the law do for you- BTW, laws were, originally, intended to punish criminal action- criminal action is harming another person or property- doing it under the color of law makes it no better than having thugs enFORCE your beliefs because, well, ______________ insert anecdote here.

What part of the Rights of the Individual do you not care for? Picking and choosing will come back to haunt you- have you ever seen the poem

"First they came for the socialists..."
Martin Niemöller: "First they came for the Socialists..."

There's a reason for *anyone* to have one in the Police State- when the Military and Cops disarm so will everyone else.
The thing about authoritarians, regardless of their stature, or title, is, they don't have the right to force their beliefs on everyone who doesn't believe as they do-
The thing about forcing beliefs is what veterans were/are allegedly fighting against- forcing ones beliefs is immoral- under the color of law or unjust wars makes it more so- someone else's guilty conscience is just that- if they (the actors) don't want an AR 15 they have the right to not own one- what they don't have a right a right to is to determine what others want in any capacity- when people stop relying on stature in a community, which is purely materialistic, to determine their beliefs we'll all be better off- reason is a sound explanation for an action or thought- propaganda is BS-

No I am not whining about an FDR Program.. FDR's Social Security was to be PRIVITIZED (Partially or in Full within 30 years that would be 1964) LBJ and the Democrats WITHOUT ONE SINGLE GOP VOTE IN SUPPORT. passed that SS funds would be deposited in the GENERAL OPERATIONAL BUDGET OF THE UNITED STATES, and they would issue SPECIAL ISSUE TREASURY BONDS (This is the same bonds that were called SCRIPT MONEY during WW2)

Go listen and/or read to his address to Congress on Social Security.

Social Security - Franklin D. Roosevelt 1935

in the important field of security for our old people, it seems necessary to adopt three principles--first, noncontributory old-age pensions for those who are now too old to build up their own insurance; it is, of course, clear that for perhaps thirty years to come funds will have to be provided by the states and the federal government to meet these pensions. Second, compulsory contributory annuities, which in time will establish a self-supporting system for those now young and for future generations. Third, voluntary contributory annuities by which individual initiative can increase the annual amounts received in old age. It is proposed that the federal government assume one-half of the cost of the old-age pension plan, which ought ultimately to be supplanted by self-supporting annuity plans.

SO YES I SUPPORT FDR'S PLAN, NOT LBJ'S REVSION. because if FDRs plan was in place, MY SS tax money would have been placed into an ANNUITY ACCOUNT in MY NAME... not part of the General Opreational Budget of the United states.
That is too silly. If your SS tax money was in a private annuity account you would be lucky to get $300 a month when you retire. You can get your anticipated SS monthly payout at this link = Retirement Estimator | Social Security Administration
