My Dad was in his latter days when the movie “Windtalkers” came out. My Dad was a radioman on a troop transport in ww2 and was interested. Also my Dad’s best friend in the navy was a Native American, though not a code talker. So I took him to the movie.

The movie was made after Saving Private Ryan, so the battle scenes were realistically brutal. After the movie, all my Dad said was,”I knew some of the guys that did that. They weren’t ever right in the head again”.
Yeah, most of 'em ended up as drunks. Went off to fight for a country that didn't give a shit about 'em, and came back to a country that promptly forgot their contribution. Sad stuff. Meanwhile chickenhawks like John Wayne were scoring all the poon and gaining fake patriot cred.

I know fake patriots prefer other phony "patriots" like John Wayne and (hehe) Donald "Bonespurs" Trump. It's really hilarious how many idiots (and they are idiots) think John Wayne was a patriot because he played one in the movies. The vets knew better though.....and most of 'em despised Wayne. John Wayne would rarely go out in public after WW2 without being bombarded with calls of "coward" from guys who actually DID serve.

Other GOP "heroes" include the famous pants- crapping coward Ted Nugent, a symbol of rugged GOP manliness (LOL).

What do you object to? The true fact that the codetalkers were promptly forgotten for decades and most of them ended up as alcoholics on the res, or the true fact that John Wayne never served his country but somehow is lionized as an American hero by the GOP? I remember you are a Wayne fan from our previous discussion.

You expressed purely subjective personal opinion.
Native Americans have always had a much higher rate of alcoholism than other Americans, veteran or not. Tell me exactly how you KNOW that "MOST of them ended up alcoholics on the res."
John Wayne was 34 years old when WWII began for the U.S. A bot old for a rifleman. It can be argued that his wartime movies had significant propaganda/ morale benefit great that any contribution he could have made as a active soldier/sailor. etc.
RW conservatives are fucking morons, you know that. OF COURSE the dopes lionize a Hollywood "cowboy" and "warrior."
John Wayne was very good at what he did and I did not say a thing that was not true, did I?
