Buffalo Wild Wings customers shocked as rat falls from restaurant ceiling
Well that’s not a wing.
Customers at a Los Angeles, Calif., Buffalo Wild Wings were in for a stomach-churning incident when a rat reportedly fell from the ceiling and landed on a table.
Alisha Norman, who was visiting Los Angeles from Texas, was getting ready to order at the chain restaurant when she heard something crawling above her, she told FOX35. Soon after, a rat fell and landed on a menu on the table.
...According to a statement from Buffalo Wild Wings to Fox News, the restaurant immediately closed following the incident for cleaning....

In some eaterys there, rats and cats are a delicacy. Possibly one ran to the chicken coop seeking asylum? When I was working a group of us used to meet for lunch at a place in Huntington Park. On their patio dining area there was a resident rat that used to come to the table and beg for food not unlike a cat or dog would.
Getting excited about rodents is a common syndrome in areas where people are packed together. Some say that in older major metro areas the rats outnumber us 20 to 1.

Well, sure. But were they shocked because the critter wasn't cooked to order, or because the sauces weren't included? Yes, rats aren't ordinarily on the menu in the US - or @ least, not out in the open. But if you read the histories or even novels of WWII POWs (& some civilians) in Japanese custody, (or the survivors of the siege of Stalingrad), a rat would have been considered deluxe rations.

Protein is protein, & the world's agricultural (& fishing & livestock) systems are coming under more pressure - we need to learn to grow (or manufacture) more food faster, hopefully nutritious healthy food, & on a sustainable basis. In the US, people often turn up their noses @ organ meat. But our ancestors, those who farmed or ranched, used every bit of the animal or plant possible. It may come to that again, & then people who can't or won't eat certain foods may find themselves tested in very unexpected ways.

& of course, in other parts of the world, people already eat grubs, insects, etc., pretty much whatever comes to hand. We are omnivores, after all. Even if we often don't quite live (dine?) up to the label.

Granted this is appalling I suggest people watch the Netflix documentary 'Rats'. Now, of course this is sensationalized but there is some truth to it. Furthermore LA is a giant garbage heap oozing with rats. Unfortunately this press will make BW3 look bad when in fact unless it is a stand alone building (which in LA i highly doubt) they are more likely a victim of environment than a business in negligence.

A couple of years ago, a rat fell from the ceiling at a local dim sum restaurant. The rat landed on a diner's shoulder and jumped onto the table, women screaming everywhere. A cook comes running out of the kitchen with a pan and lid, chased after it as it scampered about, and managed to catch it after knocking over chairs, tables, food, drinks, and even diners. The cook takes it to the kitchen and beat it to death with a rolling pin while cussing at it. It was an open kitchen and people watched it all in horror amidst screams of protests. All this was captured by cellphone pictures and videos that were uploaded unto the internet within minutes. In the meantime, the industrious wait staff were all rapidly handing out the dining bills and trying to collect.

Their Yelp page went viral within minutes with pictures, videos, and reviews all coming in so fast that Yelp was constantly freezing. Then the fake reviews started coming in with Yelpers making claims such as getting sick after eating there previously, or spotting ingredients inside the dim sum which they know recognize as rat feces.

After a few days, the restaurant owner broke down and bought Yelp ads, and all the reviews, pictures, and videos disappeared without a trace. There are still people that occasionally try to post them again, but they are always removed shortly. Sometimes screenshots are posted showing some of the removed posts, but they too are removed. Yelp is shady.

A Russian business model, for sure.
