If by Socialism you mean government intervention and lets face it, in the unITED STATES thats all it means- then no dont expect SOCIALISM do go away on the contrary

But it would be a big mistake to write off socialism.

Eventually, as China and India get rich, there is little doubt that they too will start increasing their efforts to provide for their less prosperous citizens.
In other words, it's wrong to think of neoliberalism and socialism as polar opposites or inveterate enemies. The world's recent experience shows that free markets and government redistribution can co-exist to create rich societies where no one starves.
Wealth hasn't trickled down from the rich to the poor as much as many free-marketers had hoped, but government has been effective in channelling wealth down. Chalk this up as a victory of sorts for socialism.
Socialism and capitalism tend to work best together

You're the one who titled the thread "...big mistake to write off socialism". Why are you being evasive on admitting if you are and/or what it means?

i want to know your connotation of the word, why are you being evasive? my defintion of the word is a system based on the democratic rule of the people where the commanding heights or the comomy are either state run or under codetermination Co-determination - Wikipedia redistributive taxation an equatible distribution of wealth, a huge nanny state welfare system to wipe my bottom when i feel sad.. but heres the thng a lot of people dont like that defintion, its basically denamark and many feel denamrk is basically a market driven system.. to me when i say socialist i mean denmark norway sweden or iceland maybe even finaland germany or france.. people laugh at that

Isaac Asimov > Quotes > Quotable Quote

“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

― Issac Asimov
