In 2017, only 4.1% of California's power came from coal.

Coal is done. Technology is now making major leaps every 5 years now. Not only can we not predict what will be the next major leap just 5 years from now, but trying to predict 10,20,30 years into the future is impossible.

It is easy to predict that current technology has natural gas as number one for at least 5 more years in electricity generation, with coal fading fast, and will be taken over in another in another 5 years in this country by renewables, and with battery storage technology catching up, and coming on line, it's not that difficult to predict large portions of the country off of public utility grids in another 30 years. In another 30 years, we will be closer to new technology in construction and energy use of 2100, than we will be of construction and energy use of 1970.

It's not the technology that's keeping us from being their now. It's the special interests that own the old technology paying off the politicians to slow it down, or prevent it altogether.

Hell, there are actually medicines available that cure diseases that big pharma do not want readily available for the same reasons.

Yet here you are praising and supporting the creation of new special interest groups and parasitic beauracacies because you believe their propaganda. It is sad that you are unable to see the irony of your post but you are blinded by arrogance and self-righteousness

Really? What pollutants have been reduced?
CO2. The article states that this reduction is the equivalent of taking many thousands of cars off the road. And it also reduces the pollution all other sources but nukes give off.

Even natural gas, the next best still produces CO2 and NOX.
