You sir are very very sadly misinformed about what miners make in this country. They are very low paid worker because it requires minimal skills. Mining is the work of last resort. It's the work you do when you're too stupid to do anything else. It's also a dying industry here.

And excuse me, but unless you were among the ruling elite, under the old Soviet system you were assigned your housing and no one actually owned anything.

Dude.....

But where could you find and buy a car?? And, if you found one you could afford, it would be a Lada!!

Dear wife says your prices are too low, and your wages are about three times too high.

apartments for sale in a beautiful russian building:

I checked the prices for real estate in Moscow. They are just as high as in any western capital. Hundreds of thousands of euros for a 50 sq.m. How can you live on 50 sq m?

My guess is that this is a case of nostalgia. Probably someone who did not live under Soviet rule but maybe grew up during or after the "boom" when the mob and oligarchs took over after the fall. They hear about the "good old days" from the old timers. Add that in w/ the readily available propaganda and you get a longing for the "old days". What people overlook when old timers are waxing nostalgic is that times were better when they were young because they were young.

Regardless looking from the outside in this is very understandable i mean even here we are bombarded w/ silly articles like

Why Women Had Better Sex Under Socialism

A comparative sociological study of East and West Germans conducted after reunification in 1990 found that Eastern women had twice as many orgasms as Western women. Researchers marveled at this disparity in reported sexual satisfaction, especially since East German women suffered from the notorious double burden of formal employment and housework. In contrast, postwar West German women had stayed home and enjoyed all the labor-saving devices produced by the roaring capitalist economy. But they had less sex, and less satisfying sex, than women who had to line up for toilet paper.

He's 60, so he saw some 30+ years under the Soviet system.

As for better sex, here's a guess. They don't have much else to do, work, shopping, sex, repeat, and that's not just the E. Germans.

Kiev has way more than "normal" good-looking women, women who look real good coming home from a day of work, lotsa tall ladies, beautiful eyes, hair, and everything. Seriously. Sometimes, standing on the underground so I could survey the car, I'm 6'5", I flat couldn't believe all the nice looking ladies. It's sorta unnatural. I asked my wife why are all the sisters competing like hell with each other?

She said, quote, "Because we have so very few good men." Damn. Really? "Yes, and if a woman marries a good man, and he strays, it's the woman's fault." Say what???? And Ukraine and Russia both have radical divorce rates.

So I'm guessing, when the guy says how 'bout it, the answer might be yes more often than a country with more options for women. Just a guess.

I am sure that "your friend who lived before Putin" :) does not even know such words ...
Buy vodka with him and get drunk .. And then write nonsense.

Information about Real Estate in the USSR will be posted on the branch, where I compare the incomes of Americans and Soviet people ...

Only in that case when American talkers leave from that branch.
