A wall of lies’: CNN’s Jake Tapper debunks Trump’s deluge of misinformation whipping up fears about immigration

CNN’s Jake Tapper argued Tuesday afternoon, ahead of President Donald Trump’s Oval Office address to drum up support for a U.S.-Mexico border wall, that the White House faces an extreme credibility challenge with the American people of the president’s own creation.

“Polls suggest roughly 60 percent of the public considers the president to be dishonest,” Tapper said. On no other topic, he added, has Trump been as misleading as he has been on immigration.

Political consultant Rick Wilson has written a new book: Everything Trump Touches Dies. Here are some of the passages:

The right is “merrily on board with a lunatic with delusions of godhood”.
“Washington is the drug-resistant syphilis of political climates, largely impervious to treatment and highly contagious.”

The tax bill was a masterwork of “gigantic government giveaways, unfunded spending, massive debt and deficits, and a catalog of crony capitalist freebies”.

Wilson even manages to give some of the blame to political consultants like himself: “The creature that emerged after Sarah Palin crawled from the political Hellmouth in 2008 kept growing, hungry not for policy victories … but for liberal tears, atavistic stompy-foot rages, and purity over performance … we fed the monster and trained it …

“Then Trump came along ... The monster is out of its cage, and its new trainers (both here and in Russia) encourage only its dumbest, darkest, most capricious, cruel and violent behaviors.”

All the things evangelicals had said for generations that made a candidate anathema were suddenly just fine … Being a goddamned degenerate pussy-grabber with a lifetime of adultery, venality, and dishonesty is not, to my knowledge, one of the core tenets of the Christian faith … Trump has opened entirely new theological avenues … There is literally not one aspect of Trump’s behavior as a citizen, a husband, and as a man that shows the slightest scintilla of repentance for anything, ever.”

No one else who has penetrated Trump’s orbit fares any better here. Steve Bannon “looks like the spokesmodel for a new line of gout medication … His rheumy-eyed stare and an odd constellation of facial moles, warts, scrofula, weeping sores and grizzled beard patches make him look vaguely piratical.”

AND yet.....Trump supporters just don't care.

If your going to start a thread about facts and credibility, I’m not sure siting CNN is the best approach.

Did you watch it?

If so, what did Tapper get wrong?
Couple things.
1. The person making the claim is responsible for providing the evidence. Insinuating “you can’t prove it wrong” is a logical fallacy known as an Argument from Ignorance.
2. Not trying to make the point that Tapper made any false claims. Rather I’m pointing out that CNN is a far left biased news outlet that has a mixed bag when it comes to providing the full story.
3. From an argumentative standpoint, CNN is essentially the central enemy from the perspective of a Trump supporter. Even if Tapper makes 100% full and accurate statements, in the eyes of a Trump supporter it doesn’t matter. Imagine a liberals reaction is a Trump supporter sited Breitbart.

You DO understand WHY Trump hates CNN so much ?? Why they are his most favorite target for his accusations of "fake news" ??

IT'S PERSONAL, he and the CNN CEO were friends for more than 20 years. CLOSE FRIENDS. He fully expected CNN to give him the kind of fawning sycophant, only good things, coverage that Faux News gives him. When they didn't, he went ballistic !!! As we have seen it takes VERY LITTLE for Trump to turn on his friends. Or more accurately for him to believe THEY TURNED ON HIM. At least that's ALWAYS HIS VERSION. Even the slightest bit of disagreement and suddenly YOU'RE THE ENEMY !!! Look at how many people in his administration have been fired or forced to resign over relatively MINOR disagreements ?

Bottom line, Trumps constant bashing of CNN is PERSONAL, and not so much about their bias.
