According to the Mississippi Department of Education, there were 107 public secondary schools in Mississippi during the 2017-2018 school year. Currently, there are 130,235 students in secondary grades in Mississippi public schools.
"This research makes it critical that many LGBTQ students in Mississippi are facing hostile environments that lack many of the resources that make their schools safe spaces for them to attend," Eliza Byard, executive director of GLSTEN, said in the release.

Survey: LGBTQ kids in Miss. are overwhelmingly harassed at school. 56 percent don't report it.
