House Democrats Are Lining Up Behind What Could Be The Largest Expansion Of Government In Decades

Democrats are increasingly lining up to support a “Green New Deal,” which, while vague on details, could end up being the largest expansion of government in decades.
As it stands, the “Green New Deal” is more aspirational than actual policy. Indeed, it takes its name from the New Deal of the 1930s, and its main backer, incoming Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, compared it to the Great Society of the 1960s.
More than 40 Democratic lawmakers support the “Green New Deal” as part of a broad plan to fight global warming and bring about what they see as “economic, social and racial justice.” A poll found most Americans supported the deal, but knew little about it.
But the big question is when Americans find out what’s in the “Green New Deal,” will they be willing to pay for it?

Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” calls for creating a House committee to draft legislation to fight global warming and turn the U.S. economy into something akin to what Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders envisions. Indeed, the “Green New Deal” could be a preview of what policies the Democratic Party will back in the 2020 elections.

“This is going to be the New Deal, the Great Society, the moon shot, the civil-rights movement of our generation,” Ocasio-Cortez said at a panel event in early December alongside Sanders, a likely 2020 presidential contender.
Those goals include moving the U.S. to 100 percent green energy, federal job guarantees for workings forced out of their fossil fuel jobs, guaranteed minimum income and universal health care.

It was a Republican President, a Republican Senate and a Republican House that created trillion dollar deficits in a relatively stable economy. But, who needs facts when one has Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller.......LOL
Democrat Congress' created deficts TWICE the level of the current deficit of 833 billion... Remember they created 1,600, 1,200 and 1,400 billion dollar deficts.

But then again you said THAT'S OKAY

I addressed this repeatedly but you refuse to respond.
The method that you use to make this assessment is ridiculous. You look SOLELY at who controls congress and then blame them EXCLUSIVELY.
It would make more sense to look at the change in deficit size as solely looking at the budget amount by itself is meaningless. Deficits are not shrunk overnight.

TNVolunteer73, it's about time you responded to my post.
Can you clarify how your numbers were collected?
Because, as presented, there is insufficient information to really conclude anything.

Let's show by example by some made up scenarios:
2000 - R - $10
2001 - R - $14
2002 - R - $16
2003 - R - $20
2004 - D - $20
2005 - D - $16
2006 - D - $14
2007 - D - $10

That gives a sum of
R - $60
D - $60
But that obviously doesn't really show the true story. R's ran up the deficit, and then D's reduced it.
It wouldn't make sense to blindly pretend that the two numbers being $60 have the same meaning.

Now let's change the values slightly to show what happens when D's have control of Congress for more years...
2004 - D - $20
2005 - D - $18
2006 - D - $16
2007 - D - $14
2008 - D - $12
2009 - D - $10
Now the R's have controlled congress for four years, raising the deficit each year.
The D's have controlled congress for six years, lowering the deficit each year.
But their numbers by your blind method are:
R - $60
D - $90
So the D's are blindly penalized just because they controlled Congress more, even though they lowered the deficit all the years.

Your method of calculation doesn't really show the true story.

You know Repubs...
They gotta obfuscate the very real deficit they are actively running up with imagined fears of Dems doing that...
