How Much is a "Living Wage?"

Many on here have insisted that employers be required to pay a "living wage," presumably on pain of similar penalties for hiring workers now at less than the minimum wage.

So, exactly how much would that wage be?

How much should an employer be required to pay an unskilled entry level worker?

Ballpark figure is fine.

A living wage is as much as you want it to be. There should be no minimum or maximum on how you want to live and no one can have the right to dictate what living is to you.

It can be scaps from the gutter or billions, all depending on how you want to live. People who endorse the minimum wage and do not think that it is fair or enough do not realize that they are not only putting a psychological and monetary cap on their worth and potential worth but others too.

Ballpark figure?

Well besides, "Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell and advertise." I also heard Ted Turner once say, " It's all the same after the first hundred million."

Was that first one from Mattress Mac, or are their other people saying it?

He probably got it from some source that inspired him at a young age. I heard him say it in an interview when I was in high school and felt inspired. So simple and honest. If you take enough little baby steps every day, one day you will look back and see that the mountain is under you and you have reached the summit!

We may as well talk hockey or animal husbandry as wait for these statists to put a number to their demand for a "living wage."

Moral and intellectual cowards that they are.

A living wage, like the Right to the Pursuit of Happiness, cannot be defined. Who are you or anybody to tell me when I have had enough happiness?

It needs to be at least 30% more than the current minimum wage, whatever that is at the time.

Having a sliding scale is a great way to get votes.

A living wage is a concept... apparently hard to grasp.

"Living wage" is just another liberal/socialist talking point. No matter what the wages currently paid actually are the living wage will always be higher that what's the going rate at the moment. It's another "dog whistle" designed to rake in as many votes as possible.
