Keep in mind that a hurricane trajectory cone by the NHC actually represents only 60 to 70 percent of the potential trajectory.

So, a direct hit along Florida's eastern coast is seemingly still a fairly high possibility.

Best of luck to you folks down there!

Hurricane Dorian’s forecast track continued to clear more of the South Florida coast and the storm weakened to Category 4 strength as it stalled over Grand Bahama island
Hurricane Dorian now a Category 4 storm; 11 a.m. track edges slightly away from Florida

I also read where it is starting to weaken more and has began shifting north. It is fortunately looking better and better for Florida. It appears that it may very well stay farther out east and continue to go north by east with minimal damage. Lets hope so

I've never understood the way the weather-folks pick the names of hurricanes. Is it alphabetical?
If so, THIS particular hurricane SHOULD have been named: Storm(y) Daniels....don't you think?

Well, let's not forget that even if things go best case scenario, and Dorian goes slowly out to sea....like Matthew a year ago, this is just the beginning of the Atlantic Hurricane season! There's an almost sure bet for a Tropical Storm will form in the Atlantic hurricane laboratory off the Cape Verde Islands, and even though the Gulf of Mexico has been quiet this year....leading to a lot of the complacency, they have a tropical depression off the coast of Mexico which is predicted to have a 50% chance to become a tropical storm also. So, Dorian aside, it's still early in the game....which also never mentioned - because of global warming, ocean temperatures rise higher and stay warmer longer than in previous years and decades. So, don't be surprised if hurricane season once again continues on through October and beyond:
