Trump's tough guy act fell through with Kimmy, so now it's time to move on to the perennial boogieman.

Is anybody buying this?

Initial US analysis shows Iran likely behind attack on Saudi oil tankers
A preliminary U.S. assessment indicates Iran was likely behind the attack that caused "significant damage" to two Saudi oil tankers on Sunday, according to a new report.
A U.S. official told the Wall Street Journal that the early findings in the ongoing analysis show Iran was likely behind the attack that occurred near the Persian Gulf as the two vessels were attempting to head into the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz.
Saudi energy minister Khalid al-Falih announced the vessels were attacked on Sunday along with at least two other oil-industry vessels. He also said that one of the ships was traveling to a Saudi port in the Persian Gulf to load oil that would head to the U.S.
...The incident coincides with the Trump administration’s decision to send the USS Abraham Lincoln, B-52 bombers, and a Patriot antimissile battery to the region in response to a "credible threat" from Iran.

He desperately needs an enemy to look tough against. Lil' Kimmy told him to FO, the Chinese told him to FO so I guess he decided he could bully Iran and appease the base.

The new SecDef has contingency plans to send 120,000 troops to the ME if Iran attacks US forces, or so he was told to say.

This is some serious deja vu.

I can't name one reason why Iran would want to start some shit with us.

It's all too staged.

Pompeo crashes Brussels meeting of E.U. diplomats
but changes few minds on Iran
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo crashed a meeting of European foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday to push for a united transatlantic front against Tehran and its nuclear program. But he failed to bend attitudes among leaders who fear that the United States and Iran are inching toward war.
Pompeo’s last-minute decision to visit the European Union capital, announced as he boarded a plane from the United States, set up a confrontation between the top U.S. diplomat and his European counterparts, who have been scrambling to save the 2015 Iran nuclear deal in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal last year. At least one, British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, said he feared that unintentional escalation from the United States and Iran could spark a conflict — an unusually bold statement that appeared to assign equal culpability to Washington and Tehran.
The visit came on a day that the Saudi Foreign Ministry said two of the country’s oil tankers and a Norwegian ship were damaged over the weekend near the Persian Gulf, in what it claimed was an “act of sabotage.”
..Neither Saudi Arabia nor the United Arab Emirates produced photographs to support claims that Saudi tankers had incurred “significant damage.” The incidents did not cause any casualties or oil spills, according to a statement by Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih.

Of course....

What Iran wants more than anything is to start a war with the US and its "allies." And, of course, the Saudis are well-known truth-tellers. Of course they are.

Folks, we're looking at the Project for a New American Century, part 2, with Iran, rather than Iraq, in the starring bad guy role.
