Is free college possible?

A better term than "free" would be "no cost to the student."

IMHO the idea of "free" education is both misleading and hurts the ideas advancement.
Agreed. Nothing is free. It's time to instead talk about how things like education get paid for. Even "no cost to the student" is not accurate. In all the scenarios present within this thread the student has to pay something or work for a certain company.

This is overly hypothetical. it does not take into account the costs of staying alive like foods and shelter, transportation. Not everyone can work at McDonald's. Not everyone qualifies for Pell. Some people SHOULD have higher aspirations than community college or state college.

Good grief. There is not one size fits all. You made a decent point but took it to far.
@noonereal

-It is not hypothetical at all, it is in fact, a very direct, practical manual a person could pick up and use
-Food, shelter, and transportation were all factored into the calculation and stated as such
-If a person does not qualify for Pell, then they necessarily have more than enough money for the program they are enrolled into
-It is not clear what your last statement is intended to mean. Please explain, if you like.
-I solved a major non-existent issue in our current society inside of 30 seconds--precisely because it is fabricated in order to provoke manufactured outrage

@leekohler

That is not true, either.

Again, a person can go to community college and/or a local 4-year college at not cost of tuition for the student. In fact, the student gets paid to go to community college, the sum of $3000-$4000 per year, for up to 3 years. That is correct, the government will and does pay students to attend Community college and other low tuition rate institutions, including vocational training certain 4-year colleges.

Neat! So share this info with every kid under 18 and nobody will ever have to in debt for college again! :rolleyes:

Always fascinating to see the sheep self-herd themselves into a blatantly false reality--an alternative snow globe world, if you will.

Now, you two have to contend against the laws of arithmetic in order to continue residing inside the artificial dome, and as we have witnessed, the comfort of the dream surpasses even the most fundamentally sound laws of nature when the two clash.

You post of extreme false ego and a fair amount of real world ignorance.
