At least they are trying to do something instead of like Dopey Don, just worrying about the markets. So what if people die, need to keep those rich donors rich.

It's quite possible that the US will have just as many-if not more-cases as Italy has in terms of percentage of population in just a matter of weeks. Indeed, in just four days it's gone up exponentially from a little less than a hundred additional cases reported four days ago to 128 additional cases yesterday, to over two hundred additional cases today, if I'm not mistaken. And, just do the math going out a few weeks, particularly if carriers are not isolated from the rest of the population.

While the loons are whining, crying doom and gloom andbamingTrump for poor leadership allowing the virus in the US they should be focusing on their perfect European socialist utopias
If Bernie were running the country, this could be us.
You don't follow international news very closely, do you? Italy is NOT a socialist country...unless you consider ever nation with public healthcare to be socialist!
They've been hit hard by this pandemic, likely because they are among the poorest nations in Europe and are first in line for refugees swimming ashore.
Let's see how Trump Admin deals with this pandemic/or doesn't in the coming months....it's only just beginning on this side of the Atlantic!

Actually it seems that coronavirus itself isn't that big of a deal. It is the hysteria that is doing the damage. The main problem is that there is no vaccine for it but most people don't get flu shots and countless people did from the flu every year. Right now fear is doing far more damage than the virus and when we get a vaccine people will refuse it like they refuse the flu vaccine. Hell, nitwits in Third World countries kill people who are giving people polio shots. Our biggest disease is stupidity and there is no cure for that.

3/10 Update: It appears that 250+ confirmed cases were added today to the total US cases.

(My guess is, by tomorrow at this time, there will be 300+ additional confirmed cases that will added to the total US cases.)

A mortality rate of 2-3.4 percent, current coronavirus estimates and actual measurements, is a big deal.

Approximately 50 million US citizens contract the flu annually. About 50,000 people die from it. These figures vary from year to year, but these figures are pretty good median values.

The mortality rate for the flu thus is about 0.1 percent. A mortality rate of 3 percent if 100 million Americans contract the coronavirus means three million deaths. That's a big deal.

When the corona virus has an immunization program like the flu it is predicted to come in line with the death rate due to the flu. The danger that exists prior to that is unavoidable. Remember that when the "Wuhan flu" was first identified in China the Chinese govt didn't warn the rest of the world about it when it did become general knowledge. They went so far as to refuse to release the DNA of the virus so tht others could analyze it and start on a road to as vaccine.
My grand daughter, a research scientist at Baylor, is telling us that she and her friends in the industry are not finding any real fault with the govts actions so far, in fact they are really happy to see the cooperation between the states and the US govt. they are also upset at the politicization of the entire issue. Since they are pretty much all raving liberals they are pointing out Calif gov Newsome as a shining example of what we need right now.
Read this Wiki about the Spanish flu and get an idea of what happens where there are no immunization programs.

In the meantime Iran is in a real panic because they appear to have been totally unprepared for this.
