Gather your reading comp together. Where did I say it was Fords failed product?
Sorry , said Ford instead of GM.

Anyway, your post #6 says, " GM plant closures are due to a FAILED PRODUCT LINE at GM......
What government policy caused that to happen?

Possibly the Obama bailout. The problem appears to be that GM didn't update their facilities and product lines to reflect something that the public wanted. The left wants to crow about how GM paid back all the loans etc they got as a result of the Obama bail out to keep them from failing. They didn't take advantage of the "breather" afforded them to repair their business model. This "too big to fail" attitude allowed conditions that resulted in the failure of a product group in GM. Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet are terminating a sedan line in each brand. This is all arguable but to me and many others it seems obvious. IMO if GM had been allowed to fail and gone thru a process of reinvention they would not be faced with the current problem.
This was not seen as politically acceptable to Obama so it went the way he wanted it to. The prime mover appears to be the need to bail out the UAW and not particularly GM. The jobs he "saved" have now come to roost as losses in the Trump admin. Ain't kicking the can down the road grand?

Sorry, you mean the george Bush bailout.
BUSH announced the bail-out on Dec. 19th 2008 BEFORE Obama took office in Jan. 2009.

Toyota Motor Corp. on Thursday raised its planned investment in its U.S. operations through 2021 by about a third to nearly $13 billion to build more models and parts in the country, a move that comes as the Trump administration considers imposing tariffs of up to 25% on auto imports.

Did anyone click the link ?? The story has been RETRACTED !!!! Oh and BTW FORD is in the process of eliminating more than 20,000 jobs !!!! FORD has also announced the end of sedan production except maybe for the Mustang. I find the hypocrisy amazing. The conservatives are all upset about GM restructuring it's product lines while praising Ford for bringing back a few jobs after eliminating MORE JOBS than GM did and basically doing the same thing GM is doing. BTW GM profits last year were $10.8 Billion dollars. Their trucks and SUVs are selling like hot cakes.

Just as a follow up. Years ago a family friend was talking about bread. Good old fashion American white bread. The stuff most of us grew up on. In talking about how they claimed it was "enriched" with vitamins and such she made the following comparison.

If you're walking down the street and a man with a gun holds you up, takes not only your wallet and watch but ALL of your clothes, leaving you naked, then returns your underpants have you been robbed or "enriched" ?? This is what she basically said about bread. First they strip away every bit of nutrition, then add some tiny amount back and claim it's enriched !!

Ford is on the process of cutting more than 20,000 jobs !! They've sent the Focus to China and thanks to tariffs are NOT going to import them to here. But now they announce a few new jobs in MI ?? Have we been robbed or enriched ??
