That isn't being "progressive"- or aggressive- it's intellectually honest and there isn't an intellectually honest person in DC, never mind on stage- the intellectual cowards who worship them are, well, intellectual cowards- the group determines who is and who isn't what- Liberty be damned- we will force you to like us- we'll do it under the color of Law- just like good little "progressives" who can't persuade with palatable, or logical, arguments- they prefer force- by proxy of course.
Thank you for your personal, confused, and impotent opinion. We're happy to leave the likes of you behind.

I've been saying, for years, progressive policy is regressive-- the examples of progressive policy beliefs are intellectual cowards- not a one will defend Liberty-
If people are being deprived of their civil and human rights then they are being deprived of their liberty. It is foolish for people to support any system that oppresses them.

Seems like you are desperate to find something progressive to complain about. It reflects poorly upon you to express objection to statements about protecting folks who have been traditionally disadvantaged and discriminated against. By your reasoning, there is far to much fairness in America and we need to suspend protections for the LGBT populations... shame!
Liberals can't seem to understand that you can't legislate emotions. All they can do is punish people for being different. That's not how freedom works.

It works both ways. If a Christian person doesn't want to bake a cake for a gay couple, then were's the bakers liberty? It's a private business that caters to the public. BUT the public doesn't own the baker. Therefore no laws should strip a person of their liberty.

Aren't those freaks supposed to be 1 to 2% of the electorate. Wrong priorities.

I have never treated them any different. But if one of them gets in my face and yells I'm gay and you hate me, I might start. Your comment implies everyone discriminates against gays and that is ridiculous.
It implies no such thing. What it means that if two guys want to get married to each other then treat it just like a man and a woman getting married. It means that if two women want to adopt a child then treat it just like a man and a woman adopting a child.

“Caters to the public”

So a “private business” should be able to say “No blacks allowed”? What about “No Republicans allowed”? “No Christians allowed”? “No women allowed”?

Caters to the public means they make themselves subject to local “public accommodation“ laws.

The event was a CNN town hall in Los Angeles Thursday night, where nine Democratic candidates were interviewed about their stances on LGBT issues. Those who tuned in for the four-and-a-half-hour show were treated, with few exceptions, to each candidate answering variations of the same questions in the same ways. What will they do about any continued discrimination against LGBT? They'll fight against it and support the Equality Act. What will they do about improving access to HIV drugs and preventative medication? They'll go after those greedy pharmaceutical companies, and all the drugs will be covered under their health care plans. What will they do about hate crimes? They'll unleash the Department of Justice against them, and hate crimes will definitely be exempted from any push to make federal sentencing less punitive. What will they do about other countries who treat arrest or execute LGBT people? They'll withhold aid and possibly even trade. What will they do about people who invoke their religious beliefs to justify discriminating against LGBT people? They won't let them, and they'll strip churches and nonprofits of their tax-exempt status if they try. What will they do about conversion therapy? Ban it. What will they do about bullying in schools and teen suicide? Get rid of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. (Seriously, her name was invoked more frequently than Donald Trump's.)
The too-long, didn't-watch version of last night's summit: Tell us who did you wrong and we'll go punish them.

Yessiree bob- make more laws- that fixes everything- LOL- idiots
Are you new to this country? To social justice issues that have ABOUNDED for decades? In this country we shine a VERY BRIGHT LIGHT on inequality. If you want to call that "Progressivism" then be my guest, but if memory serves we the people fought a civil war over such things. We protested and then created laws which DO NOT allow discrimination....against anyone.AND yet.........here we are again.
So if the 2020 Candidates want to bring inequality into the center ring? GOOD FOR THEM.
AND here's a question for you. WHY isn't the GOP talking about the issue? OH! That's right. They're saying..."WHAT ISSUE?" They would rather have the option TO discriminate. Never mind.

That doesn't really make a lot of sense. So, your emotional needs to support the discrimination and persecution are part of your ideas of a free society. In that way, some people are get to be "free" while others get to be disparaged and injured???

You can’t legislate emotion.

You CAN legislate actions..no matter what the emotion behind that action is. You can legislate that you can’t discriminate against gay people. It doesn’t matter WHY (hate, fear, religious belief).
