Oh come on, people. Like every other generation, the Boomers have done some great things and some dumb things. We may not be leaving a Utopia for our kids and grandkids, but let's give credit where credit is due.
Here's my list:
Seatbelts and drunk-driving laws
Pioneers of rock and roll
The internet
Personal computers/cell phones
Screen time and the expansion of television
Saturday Night Live
Iconic entertainment and movies--think Jaws and Star Wars
The age of volunteering: Peace Corps
We marched and protested for civil rights, war, women and LGBTQ
We kickstarted environmental progress/awareness
Huge progress in science, medicine and forensics
We increased life expectancy
Credit cards

So a little praise would be good. Could we have done better? SURE! Our country is now and has always been a 'work in progress'. We're handing it off to Gens X, Y, Z....OK Boomers....let it go...and wish them luck.
I can agree with all that.

And, let's look at what the Boomers were handed.

Mass conformity.
Racism.
Segregation
Sexism.
Hypocritical sexual mores
Hypocritical attitudes toward drugs
70-80,000 nuclear warheads.
A 15-minute delivery system on the above, quicker than Dominoes.
Atmospheric nuclear weapons tests
An older generation who advised us to love it or leave it
LBJ, Nixon, Reagan
Dire air pollution
Dramatic water pollution
Ground pollution
Widespread indiscriminate use of pesticides
Chemical-drenched food
A stupid and Deadly war
A deeply divided nation
Deeply divided generations

And, it's on that last point, something I directly experienced, that stirs my ire so deeply. I had to "cure" myself of my disdain for my parents' generation, which I did by realizing that they, like people in general, were doing what they thought was right. They, like all people, were both right and wrong in their attitude.

And they didn't really fix any of that. When you come right down to it. In fact, they helped to perpetuate most of those things.

My maternal grandmother Jessie Lee Martin was quite the girl---a college graduate in 1920--then a teacher in a one-room school---the only Democrat in the family and a Steel Magnolia. She loved to tell me stories and one I remember in particular about how HER mother Mary Jane Martin was horrified when the 20s came along and Jessie Lee CUT her hair, shortened her skirts, lowered her necklines, danced with the Devil doing the Charleston and drank a lot of bathtub gin when GIN wasn't legal.
Grandmother Martin swore that the "youngun's" were going straight to HELL in a Model T.
Then along came my mother and Jessie Lee said about the same thing---Swing Bands, godless behavior, smoking, bright red lipstick and nails---HORRORS.
Then along came Clara..........Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll--hippies--protesting--campus uprisings, weed, long hair...etc.
I think you get the picture and the beat goes on.

Just a year ago, kids were eating tide pods.

Soooo then there's that.
In my day the (stupid) to-be Boomer kids had contests about how big a firecracker they could hold in their fists when it explodes. Is that better?
