Ironic that the Japanese are now one of our greatest allies.

It's like some scrawny insecure dude picks a fight with someone bigger than himself, and the big guy punches him way harder than he should have and feels bad, so he buys the manlet a beer and 10 years later they're best friends.

Truly the greatest love story.

Perhaps. But of all the nations in the world, the UK and Portugal have been great friends and allies longer than they have with any other nations. Over 200 years at least. IIRC?
