Shame on the Montana Department of Livestock! Shame on the National Park Service! Shame on the Cattle Ranchers! 150 years ago they slaughtered the Buffalo to wipe out Indigenous Nations. This time they are slaughtering the Buffalo under a lie to protect their cattle.

The National Park Service has spent seven of the past eight days hazing Yellowstone National Park buffalo near the park's northern border to appease the special interests of Montana's livestock industry and the Church Universal and Triumphant. In 1999 US taxpayers doled out 13 million dollars to the Church in a deal that was supposed to result in greater tolerance for buffalo. But the Church still refuses to allow buffalo anywhere near it's land. On the west side of the Yellowstone River buffalo are harassed with your tax dollars and on the east side they are shot by hunters. Where is the tolerance for buffalo in Montana?

These are Bison that are supposed to be protected in Yellowstone National Park. When does this insanity stop? When will we as a Nation rise up and make our Park Service accountable for their continued atrocities?

Come now, only 50 permits were issued that allowed for only 50 Bison to be hunted. Yes there are some 5000 Bison that reside in the Yellowstone Park and these 50 would come from that herd, however, anyone that knows about nature understands that hunting helps to control the population.

Problems occur when the land that sustains animals has too many of one species. When this occurs the results are often devastating for not only the land, but the species as well. For example in Missouri where I use to live, the limit on White-tail deer was severely regulated, the result was that the White-tail deer population exploded. Sounds like a good thing right??? Wrong!!!!

Adult male white-tail deers usually weigh on average 320 - 400 pounds, whereas the adult female usually weigh on average between 140 - 200 pounds. Due to the increased population of the white-tail deer, adult males were averaging only around 280 pounds and the adult females around 90 pounds. Why, the increase in the population caused a decrease in the available food resources. Hunting of wild game actually assists in maintaining an ecological balance. Too many deer decrease the population of other animals that are necessary to an ecosystem, by consuming more food. Nature is a balancing act, especially in the wild. For every species there are natural predators and natural prey. Man, is a natural predator for many of the species, man has always hunted for food, and this assists in controlling the population.

Like it or not, ranchers also provide food for this country, and their resources are just as important. Would I love to see Bison roaming all over this country, you better damn well believe it, however, at what cost? We complain about poverty and people going to bed hungry in this country, to protect the Bison should we allow more people to go hungry????

By the way, perhaps it is time to recognize the hunters for all they do for this county. Believe it or not each year annual hunters contribute some 2 million pounds of meat to homeless shelters and food banks, so that people do not go hungry. The Safari club alone provides over 250 million meals a year to the homeless and hungry. Our esteemed friends in PETA, lets see, last year they provided Turkeys to some 1000 families. 1000 meals versus 250 million...hmm thats a no brainer. But I guess that is what happens when you value animals over people.

This whole thing is STUPID - kind of like the debacle of the Wild Mustangs in California.

Any wild animal that over-populates a certain area - for whatever reasons - will inevitably become diseased and massive numbers of them will suffer and die. It happens with wild-life ALL THE TIME.

There is nothing wrong with allowing hunters to "thin the herd" so that the herds of Bison will remain healthy, and an environmental balance restored and maintained.

Since some of our environmentalist/wildlife-loving friends believe that animals are "almost human", perhaps we ought to ask the Bison: Would you rather take a bullet to the head, and die instantly - or slowly starve to death and/or get torn literally to pieces by predators, because you were too weak to fight?

First of all, they need to level that cult that is getting taxpayer money. They are definitely insane. Check them out.

Secondly, we eat a lot of Buffalo. It has less fat than chicken and is very healthy. I bet you didn't know that. Buffalo is "the other red meat" and is getting more popular every day.
