The Trumpian quest to undo everything Obama, no matter how stupid undoing it is because Obama did it, continues.

If Trump supporters had a sliver of honor in their bones, they'd criticize Lord Trump for doing this.

But they haven't any. What they had they sold for the "good economy."

The EPA is about to change a rule cutting mercury pollution. The industry doesn’t want it.
For more than three years, the Trump administration has prided itself on working with industry to unshackle companies from burdensome environmental regulations. But as the Environmental Protection Agency prepares to finalize the latest in a long line of rollbacks, the nation’s power sector has sent a different message:
Thanks, but no thanks.
Exelon, one of the nation’s largest utilities, told the EPA that its effort to change a rule that has cut emissions of mercury and other toxins is “an action that is entirely unnecessary, unreasonable, and universally opposed by the power generation sector.”
Kathy Robertson, a senior manager for environmental policy at the company, said the industry long ago complied with the rule.
“And it works,” she said. “The sector has gotten so much cleaner as a result of this rule.”
Despite a chorus of opposition from unions, business groups and electric utilities, the EPA is on the verge of finalizing its proposal as part of a broader effort to overhaul how the government calculates the health benefits of cleaner air....
The agency plans to declare that it is not “appropriate and necessary” for the government to limit harmful pollutants from power plants, even though every utility in America has complied with standards put in place in 2011 under President Barack Obama....

You seriously have to be a cult member, so far gone with propaganda, to sit there and defend removing regulations all so companies can make even more money. The insanity of worshipping these rich, greedy scumbag corporations that would kill your kid if it made them more profit and they can get away with it. And Trump supporters are OK with allowing companies to pollute water, since they worship rich, greedy scumbags for some reason

Addendum: Unless we're talking about anti-vaxxers...
Then, of course, "mercury" in a vaccine (thiomersal) is obviously something that "the government" is trying to force on individuals to perpetuate harm...

So to summarize:
# When the government wants to restrict mercury from our drinking water and in our environment, that's an unfair imposition upon companies which are obviously just out for our best interests...
# When "the government" wants to use thiomersal in vaccines, call it "mercury" instead and insist that it should be kept out of our vaccines.

And, as always:

When the industry you’re trying to deregulate says NO THANKS anybody with more than three working brain cells would stop

If nothing else these companies have already spent the money to comply with the regulations and possibly changing their processes to take mercury out of their systems. Rolling the regs back 9 years later doesn’t help them.

One of the biggest proponents of regulations in the oil industry is the industry itself. WHY would he support such regulations? Because they’ve been implemented slowly over several decades. If a competitor suddenly decides to get into the oil industry they have to meet all those regulations on day one. Very very expensive. In other words the high cost of regulations PROTECTS the existing industry.
