The cruise line industry registers the ships in other countries and flies their flags to avoid U.S. taxes. Now the deadbeats are getting a taxpayer funded bailout compliments of the Republican Socialist Party.
And most of their staff is not American.

Get in perspective. They aren't deadbeats until they are breaking laws and not paying legal lawful fees etc.
It's a practice done by virtually all shipping companies based in the US. If they paid US taxes on their equipment they woudn't last in the market. If you look at the trucking industry, one of the most heavily regulated businesses in the country, they all do it too except they licensing in one state as opposed to others is their game. Even so they do have to pay use taxes when traveling thru each state. On a bright note, Trump did get a lot of offshore capital back in the US by lowering taxes on business
I agree that avoiding taxes that way is problematic to some folks. If the taxes were brought down to a comparable level they just might come back. They are virtually all on the NYSE however and reap much of their revenue from the US. If they were not I'd say skip them in this bailout.
Take a look at the Jones Act.

However,

Forbes:

A report in the Miami Herald points to the significance of the cruise industry to the economy of some geographic areas. It estimates that the industry’s annual economic impact in South Florida (where three major cruise lines are based) is nearly $9 billion.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the cruise industry trade association, estimates that the industry supports 421,000 American jobs, and nearly 40 percent of the 1.17 million industry-supported jobs globally are based in the U.S.

But so far, it appears as though the cruise industry isn’t even asking for assistance. “As it relates to the rescue package, the cruise lines are not lobbying for a bailout,” says Bari Golin-Blaugrund, spokesperson for CLIA.

“CLIA and our members agree that the most important stimulus the government can provide on behalf of the wider cruise community in the United States is help for small- and medium-size businesses, including a vast network of travel agencies, tour operators and suppliers, with a presence in all 50 states.”
Don't forget there are domestic cruise companies that only do rivers, lakes, Alaska, etc.

I guess you people are so short-sighted, so memory-challenged, so forgetful, that you don't remember during 2008 when the REPUBLICANS in Congress held up the first bills aimed at stemming the tide of financial collapse so they could pack more than $150 BILLION dollars into their pork projects even as they KNEW they were about to lose the election that year.

Sorry, your complaints about pork barrel spending are hypocritical at best.

Yes, my heart just bleeds for the cruise line executives and shareholders. Is there a more essential industry in the whole wide world? Oh, and I just love forking over my tax dollars to corporations who refuse to pay U.S. taxes. Oink, oink!

As you can clearly see, the so called “anti-Socialist Republican” meme that the right wing repeats over and over is phony like everything else that exits out of their collective pie holes. The cruise line industry pays zero U.S. taxes, therefore, the U.S. taxpayer owes them jack squat.

And stops the entire stimulus package to introduce her own pork laden bill. Living proof that the Dems just cant let a really good lethal crisis go to waste. Wonder how many people are gonna die while she and Shumer dig their heels in and continue their demands? Thing is the Senate and the House are gonna lose their Dems in droves over this. Just one more reason to eject the loons from office in Nov.
A commentator made a comment that the way the House is acting under SanFran Nans leadership is self destructive and if Harry Reid were still in the Senate she would never get away with it.
Excuse me, but why do you keep yammering about Democrats? The House? May I point out that both houses of Congress are comprised of BOTH PARTIES. BOTH parties VOTE. BOTH parties bring things to the table. BOTH parties and (eventually the president) are culpable. Both parties will make demands. Both parties will shove in their pet projects and always have.
COVID is not just about health concerns. It's about economic concerns which, in the long run, could be much more devastating.

I agree completely with your last sentence.

I can't believe our "leaders" understand that or they would not be acting this way.

Your post has one relevant comment.
It is about economic concerns. SanFran Nan holding up the process to get a bunch of irrelevant pandering pork into the bill has the effect of poisoning the whole process. What she did was try to intimidate the Republicans with a list of mostly things that wouldn't pass if they had control of both houses. What's most disturbing is her disruption of the process when a deal had been agreed on. Wrenching the guts of the people who most need the aid will be remembered. Now we'll have to deal with the instability of the Dems as their actions cause them to lose sleep.
