Are you seeing this? Republicans all over the country are racing to back protections for preexisting conditions. Our little GOP friends can't wait to convince the American people that THEY (not the Democratic Party) are the caring, compassionate party.

Never mind that for more than eight years, their greatest and most unifying party rallying cry has been repealing Obamacare. When the House passed legislation to do just that, Trump invited Republican members to the White House and celebrated with them in the Rose Garden. (An early sign of Trump’s current positioning came only weeks later, when the backlash from the public intensified and he called the House measure “mean.”)
But now? Superhero McConnell led the charge by adding to his war chant "Repeal and Replace" this little gem: “there’s nobody in the Senate that I’m familiar with who is not in favor of coverage of pre-existing conditions.” Gosh.
But Mac is not the only one. No siree Bob! NOW the support from our GOP Senate candidates is coming in by the boatload.
AZ McSally: We cannot go back to where we were before Obamacare, where people were one diagnosis away from going bankrupt, because they could not get access to healthcare."
MO Hawley: "I support forcing insurance companies to cover all pre-existing conditions."
NC Tillis: "It was never the intention not to maintain protections."
CA Knight: "We need tighter protections."
TX Sessions introduced non-binding resolutions expressing a desire to preserve protections for preexisting conditions.
TX Cruz: “We can protect pre-existing conditions, and you need to understand, everyone agrees we’re going to protect pre-existing conditions.” UHHH...wait. Ted Cruz?
The same Ted Cruz who led a government-shutdown effort in the hopes of preventing the ACA from being implemented – in effect, blocking the law that would protect those with pre-existing conditions – and vowed as a presidential candidate to repeal “every word” of the health care reform law, which would necessarily mean eliminating the safeguards for those with pre-existing conditions? That Ted Cruz?

This ploy has GOT TO BE the most insane, hypocritical joke of the decade. The depth of dishonesty and obfuscation here is breathtaking.
DTT Trump Worshippers! Did you get this memo? Will you now take back ALL THE nonsense about repealing every single word of ACA? We are anxious to see exactly HOW you explain this. Please. Entertain us with your delightful spins.

Republicans race to back protections for preexisting conditions, after trying for years to gut the law that created the protections

What happened is that internal polls showed that even registered Republicans had turned on the previous big push, tax cuts. They now considered them as an unfair gift to the rich. Whereas both internal and neutral polls showed how health care was high on the list of priorities for most electors. So of course the GOP changes it's message to being the great protector of the pre-existing conditions protection.

Well, till the election anyway.

And has Trump ever lied to us?

Silly! Of course Trump has never lied to us. Just ask him. He'll tell you and so will his BFFs.
