25 Cultures That Practiced Human Sacrifice

On the surface, the story of Abraham being asked to sacrifice his son Isaac seems bizarre, that is, from a 21rst century perspective. However, if we know our history, i.e. ancient history, it begins to make a little more sense. For you see, human sacrifice was common throughout the world as men sacrificed their young for such things as fertility or good crops or success on the battle field.

Then came Abraham. He was asked to also sacrifice his offspring, just as the other gods of the world wanted from their followers. However, the God of the Bible stopped Abraham and gave him a goat instead.

The message was clear to those early people, human sacrifice is not acceptable to God.

Today, we don't get this because the majority of religions today all stem from the Bible, aside from far Eastern ones like Hinduism.

Abraham is the most disgusting person in the Bible. He had no redeeming qualities. Ishmael should have crapped on his grave.

The lesson from story of Abraham and Isaac is that you should be prepared to obey god no matter what even if God orders you to do something monsterous.

This is a lesson that the 9/11 hijackers took to heart.

One difference in the 9/11 hijackers, GOD stayed Abrahams hand... ... .... .... The lesson was not for God's Glory but for the benefit of Abraham, it was an image of what GOD was going to do in the future... .

Where GOD stayed the hand of Abraham from killing Issac he did not stay the hands of humans from killing Christ.

According to the fairy tale parents are supposed to kill their disobedient children.

God has ordered the death of innocent children and his followers happily carried it out.

No, he STOPPED ABRAHAM FROM KILLING HIS CHILD.

Abraham tied Isaac and put him on the altar. He held the knife over Isaac. Abraham was ready to sacrifice his son. But an angel spoke to Abraham. He told Abraham not to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham had obeyed God. God loved Abraham
