What I am trying to say is that if the Universe has a cause it is a natural cause.
I do not feel the need to look to the supernatural for explanations of natural phenomena.

So "outside of space and time" is like Hogwarts, it's a nice story, but it really doesn't mean anything.
It takes very little intelligence to make a burrito. It takes a little more to make the ingredients to make that burrito.
It takes supernatural intelligence to create a galaxy.

or not, we can never know, it's beyond the event horizon, and every year it moves further away.
But we do know this, it's a right wall problem.
Simple things can get complex with purely random events, there appears to be an arrow of evolution moving from the simple to the more complex, as if some intelligence was orchestrating it, it's just an illusion.
Things evolve both ways, they evolve to become simpler, and they evolve to become more complex.
But there is a right wall, single cell organisms can evolve into multi-cell organisms, multi cell organisms can evolve into single cell organisms.
But single cell organisms can't evolve into zero cell organisms.
Eventually, the entropy of the universe will increase to the point where there are no stars, nothing but cold dead matter.
Eventually, every proton in the universe will decay.
On the way there, energy and can accumulate into systems that appear to become more complex.
There is grandeur in this view of the universe.
"Will Gaia figure out how to shelter herself from the end of this universe, and await the next?"
I heard Freeman Dyson ask that question at a lecture at BU, if our descendents do survive to the end of the Universe, will they figure out how to create a new Universe to occupy?
That would be intelligent design for real. And would they figure out a way into that universe, at which point they would be gods.

In a lot of ways I agree with you Goob.

And how do you know that it takes an intelligence (supernatural or otherwise) to make a galaxy?

Exactly Intelligent Design, Big Bang, Steady State or any other theory for how the universe began is a faith Based choice.
The Big Bang has evidence. If you have evidence then you don’t need faith. If you appeal to faith then that means you don’t have evidence.
