Two court appointed officials, one to perform civil and the other to perform religious ceremonies. The outcome was perfectly fine.

Don't worry Nwolfe. In the end, these people will lose. They're just bitter about it.

An atheist couple in Virginia were told by a court appointed officiant that they had no right to get married because they did not believe in god.

Virginia atheist couple: Court-appointed officiant told us we had no right to get married

Those that want to claim that same sex marriage should not be allowed since this is not what "god wants"...well this is the country that they want.
Well.. I don't know ALL MARRIAGES up until ~1916 had to be recongnized by a Church... even marriages of atheists..

Because marriage is a religious Rite.

What makes you think we want this... where atheists cannot marry.

We just want marriage to remain as it it's true original definition.

you want marriage to remain a contract between two men exchanging a woman for a couple goats and a few chickens? Do you also want marriage to remain available to a man to as many women as he can afford to have?

or did you not REALLY want marriage to remain as it originally was, but the way it was defined between XXXX and XXXX years?

Arrainged marriages have been and still are a factor in this world.

Does that fit my moral Code.. no...

you see dowries, are paid to the family of the bride to help fund the wedding.

Don't you bring gifts to the wedding party?

And to help pay for the cost of the wedding which was paid for by the Bride's family.

Because the sons at that time lived to take over the inheritance of their fathers, the daughters left the family and moved to and followed the husbmand in most cases.

So it was in return to payf or the wedding and to supply support due to the family of the Bride lost the member of the family while the family of the husband gained a member
