Trump lies again. There was no "imminent threat" from "Ear-ron".

Yes. "Ear-ron". I have it on good authority that it is not "Eye-Ran". It is "Ear-ron".... and roll that "R".

Trump made up a series of "reasons" for the targeting of Soleimani. He held a briefing with a co-equal branch of government: Congress. Both Democrats and Republicans characterized it as "sophomoric" and ridiculous, but in that briefing he never mentioned embassies. A few days later Pompeo, echoing a familiar Cheney wording, said "there is no doubt" that embassies were targeted. Then, he said in an interview that he really "believed" embassies were targeted by Soleimani.

Trump lies more than he tells the truth, so if we just assume he's lying, we will be correct more often than not. In this case, all indications are that the whole thing is a lie and they had no specific intelligence for targeting Soleimani, and that they had no follow-up plans or any of the normal alternative scenarios planned out with plan B, plan C, and plan D if the strike failed. There was no thought as to the consequences of killing Soleimani and the aftermath.

It was all impulsive, unplanned, and had no reason behind it.

IOW, more of the same Trump failings and problem creation. And we can't do anything about it. We can only wait for an election and "HOPE" for a solution that it may bring. But we can't do a damned thing to actually stop him even though most of the nation and most of the government KNOWS he needs to go. He is doing great damage and still we can't do anything about it. And he just cut the balls out of important environmental regulations and no one can do anything about it.

Trump and the boot licking minions in his administration know little of the Constitution. It's obvious Pompeo and Trump are trying to pull the wool over Congress's eyes.

Note the cracks forming within the Republican ranks...Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) on the lousiest WH briefing ever:

They're appearing before a co-equal branch of government responsible for their funding, for their confirmation, for any approval of any military action they might undertake. They had to leave after 75 minutes, while they were in the process of telling us that we need to be good little boys and girls and run along and not debate this in public. I find that absolutely insane. I think it's unacceptable. ...

Hey---let's be generous with the blame. Let's spread it out. Let's share. Let's smear it around.
None of us think for one second that Trump was the only liar. Let's give Mikey some credit: The assassination of Soleimani was justified because of THE IMMINENT THREAT. But, pressed for details or the definition of "imminent threat"? Well, let's just say Mike had to THINK about that for about 24 hours. Kinda reminded me of when Sondland's memory miraculously came back. Eureka!
It was the embassies.
"We had specific information on an imminent threat, and those threats from him included attacks on U.S. embassies. Period. Full stop," Pompeo told reporters at a morning White House briefing. Specific information that Pompeo couldn't remember yesterday?
AWESOME! AN SOS with selective amnesia.

Then....and you'll love this....Pompeo was questioned about WHY he didn't discuss this mess with congressional lawmakers and WHAT DID Honest Mike say?
"We did," Pompeo said, contradicting the lawmakers. "We told them about the imminent threat. All of the intelligence that we've briefed, that you've heard today, I assure you in an unclassified setting we've provided in the classified setting, as well."
AND what did the lawmakers have to say about that? Guess. Just guess.

Unlike Obimbo, Trump's redline was crossed and he took the necessary action. Placating is over. Iran has learned it is not dealing with a weak and fleckless Obimbo administration.

Are you talking about the "usual suspects" who will find fault no matter what?
