Trump Takes Another Step Toward His Dictatorship

Trump has manufactured an emergency, which got me thinking about all the elements commonly found in dictatorships:
1. Create an external threat to enhance power (e.g. immigrants!)

2. Create an Us-them dichotomy within power structures in the country

3. Promote xenophobia to enhance a sense of nationalism and false patriotism

4. Discourage transparency in government (e.g., his tax returns) so that malfeasance will not be revealed

5. Promote the concept of Single Man or Strong Man government to promote support from those who might be harmed by his removal from office.

6. Create a trans-border war to galvanize support from ambivalent members of the population

There is truth in that rather colorful statement. Trump is probably (hopefully) less of a problem than the people and forces that brought him into office.

They proved that a long time ago. They won't care. They'll think he's being "strong". He's not being strong, he's being stupid. And he's going to get himself impeached.

I don't even think they think that.
Not that they think.
They just support him because he's (a) not Obama (b) not a liberal (c) not a Democrat (d) is a homophobic, racist, Xenophobic misogynist.
You know - birds of a feather.
Clearly, it's not about thinking.
