The immigration raids that President Donald Trump threatened, then put off, are now set to start in the United States this weekend, according to a new report.

On Thursday, Caitlin Dickerson and Zolan Kanno-Youngs at the New York Times reported that Immigration and Customs Enforcement will commence the arrests of potentially thousands of undocumented immigrants on Sunday. Similar to the initial reported plan, ICE agents are targeting at least 2,000 immigrants for deportation across 10 major cities and could also sweep up immigrants who aren’t the initial targets.

The Trump administration for weeks has been building up potential mass immigration raids, but thus far it has held off. President Donald Trump on June 17 tweeted that the following week ICE would begin removing “millions” of undocumented immigrants from the United States. But on June 22, he said he would hold off for two weeks, at Democrats’ request, to see if they could “get together to work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border.”
Expected on Sunday:
- Miami - Atlanta - Chicago - Baltimore - Denver - Houston - Los Angeles - New Orleans - New York City, - San Francisco
The Miami Mayor Suarez (R) says he has not received any information or any indication that the raid is imminent.
To be sure, this could be yet another threat from the Trump administration and the raids will again be postponed. But per the Times report, this weekend the enforcement campaign could happen. On Wednesday, Ken Cucinnelli, acting director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services, told reporters that raids are “absolutely going to happen,” though he declined to comment on the timing.

Fuck Trump. I'll do whatever I can to help anyone who needs it, if the need comes up. ICE and Trump can blow me.

Two different reporters today from different companies have made the same observation about RW politics in the US today. I feel justified in posting this here since one brought it up in relation to the subject of the so called border crisis.

Trump manufactures a crisis then makes himself look good by "fighting the good fight" to overcome it. The deplorables don't really care if he wins, but they think he's a hero for making it look like he is fighting for them. SMH.

The other mention of an invented crisis was the whole China trade war.

You are absolutely correct. Trump is the arsonist. He holds up the can of gasoline and the lighter--taunting the unwashed. Then he smiles.
The crowd cheers. SAVED! Praise Jesus!

ICE raids are looming. Panicked immigrants are skipping work, hiding out and bracing for the worst.
Undocumented immigrants are bracing themselves.
They're calling hotlines, afraid to go outside and unsure of where to turn. Some are staying home from work. Others are posting signs by doors inside their homes telling them what to do if ICE agents show up.
Undocumented immigrants scheduled for deportation will lock their doors this weekend as federal agents scour some of the largest U.S. cities looking to make arrests. They’ll take sanctuary in churches. They’ll keep their lawyers and advocates close.

But they’ll be ready.

Advocacy organizations had time to host know-your-rights training, and churches had time to see if their congregants would be willing to take in families hiding from ICE.
Advocates have also been reminding immigrants that ICE agents aren’t allowed to force their way into a home if they don’t have a warrant signed by a judge.

America is behaving more like Nazi Germany every day.

Goodness, you mean we're actually going to enforce immigration law?
