In America, this is called "typical American" ....
In America, there are 20 statistical agencies that publish SALARY in America ...
The most respected is
U.S. Census Bureau
They said in 2016:
Typical American family earned $53,657 last year
-------------------------------
American salary = $ 54,000
Of course, this is 2016, but you can add ...
Let’s say it’s $ 60,000
=====================

American pays:
- Federal tax
- State Tax
- Local tax
---------------------------------------
The amount of these taxes is from about 5 to 50 percent of the salary.

====================================
Then
American pays:
- Mortage .......

-----------------------------------------
oops ...
Excuse me.
I will not yet lay out the full amount of US spending ....

====================
Perhaps I will start from the end

Americans ...

I worked in Northern Russia and spent some time in Moscow. I dispute your claim about Russians living better.

Why do you still use the term Soviet?

Why do you still use the term Soviet?
Because I compare the Soviet Union and America, and not Modern Russia and America ...
Sorry, I forgot to say what I mean the 70s
------------------------
The forums often compare "Communism and Capitalism", they compare different political systems and different economic systems.
-----------------------------
Therefore, it is probably better to write:
"I compare the salary of the planned economy of the USSR of the 70s and modern America"
