In an extremely rare act of censure, National Cathedral religious leaders call for an end to the silent acceptance of Trump hate speech...

Have We No Decency? A Response to President Trump - Washington National Cathedral

…When does silence become complicity? What will it take for us all to say, with one voice, that we have had enough? The question is less about the president’s sense of decency, but of ours.

As leaders of faith who believe in the sacredness of every single human being, the time for silence is over. We must boldly stand witness against the bigotry, hatred, intolerance, and xenophobia that is hurled at us, especially when it comes from the highest offices of this nation. We must say that this will not be tolerated…..

Oh, when I read "silent acceptance of Trump hate speech", I thought it was going to be about all the loonies saying they hate Trump, and all of his followers.
Maybe next time.

Oh, the are definitely complicit right off the bat. Just like all those conservatives that allow republicans to say and do all this hateful, batshit crazy stuff all so they can get a tax break or can cram the courts with conservativr justices. They are just as complicit as the deplorables.

Poor thing. Yeah, most of the country is still decent, and sees a philandering, lying, adulterous, race-baiting con man as bad. Can you imagine?

Let's talk about the word "complicit".
Websters: involved with others in illegal activity or wrongdoing. Is that definition somehow UNCLEAR to anyone? Not exactly the same as accomplice.....but pretty close.
From U.S. Legal, Inc:
Complicity in criminal law refers to when someone is legally accountable or liable for a criminal offense, based upon the behavior of another. Criminal complicity may arise in the following situations:
With the intent to promote or assist the commission of the offense:

1. a person procures, induces or causes such other person to commit the offense; or
2. a person aids or abets such other person in committing the offense; or
3. having a legal duty to prevent the commission of the offense, a person fails to make an effort he is legally required to make.

I'm going to veer off-topic for a minute and give an example of something/someone current: Jeffrey Epstein. The prosecutors may not be able to indict Epstein but they are having a very serious discussion about prosecuting ALL THOSE WHO WERE knowingly complicit in Epstein's sex trafficking. Those people would include the pimps or pimpettes--procurers of young women, the powerful men who participated, the travel agents, the wait staff, the pilots, and possibly any and all former employees.....because they KNEW and were complicit and did not "intervene to prevent the commission of the offenses."

So, perhaps this should be a wake-up call to Trump supporters. Every time you are complicit by NOT intervening--NOT making an effort? You are assisting Trump and we all know that Trump has never played by the rules, the law or accepted moral/ethical doctrine.
